If someone had told you a year ago that you would be making out with Carlos Sainz in his driver's room hours before the Monaco Grand Prix, you would've laughed in their faces and told them they were completely out of their mind.
Because why would you ever think of even breathing near the little bitch, right?
And yet, there you were. Your bodies pressed together as his lips explored your neck.
"Carlos," you murmured, your fingers tangling in his hair, "we shouldn't... someone could come in..."
He lifted his head, his brown eyes gleaming with desire. "Do you want me to stop, hermosa?"
"No," you admitted, "I don't want you to stop."
A satisfied smile played on his lips before he pressed them against yours again. His hands caressed your hips, pulling you even closer.
"You drive me crazy, you know that?" he whispered against your lips.
You couldn't help but smile. "The feeling's mutual, you little bitch."
He chuckled softly before speaking, "And to think that you hated me."
"I still do," you replied, but your tone lacked conviction. "It's just… I hate you a little less when you do that."
His lips found that sensitive spot just below your ear, making you shiver.
"Oh yeah?" he murmured, his hot breath against your skin. "And this?"
You let out a small moan, your nails digging slightly into his shoulders. "Maybe I hate you even less now."
He laughed softly, his hands sliding under your t-shirt. "You definitely don't hate me."
Almost a month had passed since that night in Carlos' car, and things between you two were amazing. You hadn't put a label on what you were yet, but you felt happier than ever.
You found yourselves seeking each other out more and more. But it wasn't just about the physical attraction or the tension of your bickering anymore. You discovered a side of Carlos you'd never seen before – his warmth, his humor, his vulnerability.
And you finally let your guard down and let him see that part of you, too.
The sarcastic remarks and playful insults were still there, but now they were tinged with affection rather than malice. Your friends had started to notice the change in your dynamic, especially Lando, who couldn't quite hide his knowing smirk whenever he saw you two together.
However, you decided to play it cool, not letting your friends know that there was something more between you and Carlos. They might be able to tell by now, but you still didn't want to admit it to them.
Which lead to secret rendezvous in hidden corners of the paddock become frequent occurrences. Like right now.
"As much as I'm enjoying this," you said as his lips still lingered on your neck and his hands roamed underneath your shirt, "I should go, someone's probably coming to get you shortly."
Carlos let out a soft groan of but nodded, slowly pulling away from you.
"You're right," he admitted, his hands reluctantly leaving your skin. "I wish we could stay like this, though. "
"I know," you smiled, reaching up to smooth his tousled hair. "But we can't risk getting caught, especially not today."
He caught your hand, pressing a kiss to your palm. "Tonight, then? After the race?"
"Assuming you don't crash into a wall, sure," you teased.
"Such faith in me," he chuckled, shaking his head. "I'll show you, hermosa. Watch me on that podium."
You were about to retort when a sharp knock on the door made you both freeze.
"Carlos? Five minutes until the briefing," came a voice from outside.
"Coming!" Carlos called back, "Looks like our time's up."
"I'll sneak out after you. Good luck out there, little bitch," you whispered, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek.
"Gracias, mi amor," he murmured, the endearment slipping out naturally.
You paused for a moment, surprised by the warm feeling that spread through your chest at his words. But there was no time to dwell on it. With a final kiss on your lips, he was out of the room.
Your heart was pounding as you tried to casually make your way out of Carlos' room. You were so focused on appearing nonchalant that you almost walked right into Charles.
"YN?" he said, his eyebrows raised in surprise and a knowing smirk slowly spreading across his face. "What are you doing here?"
You felt your cheeks flush as you scrambled for an explanation. "Oh, Charles! Hi! I was just… uh… coming to wish you good luck on the race."
"In Carlos' room?" his smirk widened.
Your heart sank. Of course he'd noticed where you'd come from. You tried to keep your voice steady as you replied, "No, no… I just got a bit turned around. All these corridors look the same, you know?"
"Uh-huh," Charles said, clearly not buying it for a second. "Well, thanks for the good luck wishes. Though I'm not sure how sincere they are if you're sneaking out of my teammate's room."
You opened your mouth to protest, but the knowing look in Charles' eyes made you realize it was pointless. He'd figured it out.
You were surprised Alex haven't told him already, anyway.
"Relax, YN. Your secret's safe with me," he said with a wink. "Though you might want to fix your hair before you see your brother. It's a bit… disheveled."
You groaned, quickly running your fingers through your hair as Charles walked away, still chuckling. You tried to make the flush on your cheeks go away as you reached McLaren hospitality.
Carlos Sainz was driving you crazy in the best possible way.

The party at Jimmy'z was in full swing, the air electric with the excitement of Charles' Grand Prix victory. The club was packed with F1 drivers, team personnel, and celebrities, all riding the high of the race day adrenaline.
You stood near the bar, your fourth glass of champagne in hand, feeling pleasantly buzzed. The room spun slightly as you looked around, your gaze inevitably drawn to Carlos. He was across the room, laughing with Pierre and Charles, but his eyes kept finding you in the crowd.
Every time your eyes met, you felt a jolt of electricity. The memory of his touch from earlier in the day lingered on your skin, making you crave more. You watched as he excused himself from his conversation and made his way toward you, weaving through the crowd with effortless grace.
"Enjoying the party, hermosa?" he asked, his voice low and husky as he leaned in close.
You shivered at his proximity, the scent of his cologne making your head spin even more. "It's alright," you said, trying to sound nonchalant. "Could be better though."
Carlos's eyes darkened at your words. He glanced around quickly before leaning in even closer, his lips barely brushing your ear. "Meet me outside in five minutes."
Before you could respond, he was gone, disappearing into the crowd. Your heart raced as you waited, trying not to watch the clock too obviously. When five minutes had passed, you made your way outside, your steps slightly unsteady.
The cool night air was a relief after the stuffy club. You spotted Carlos in one of the alleyways behind Jimmy'z. He turned as you approached, a smile spreading across his face.
"Remember the last time we were here?" he asked, pulling you close.
You giggled, the alcohol making you bold. "Yeah, when you kissed me unprovoked."
"Unprovoked?" Carlos raised an eyebrow, his hands settling on your waist. "I was being provoked by how insanely gorgeous you looked. Still do, by the way," he leaned even closer. "And if I recall correctly, you enjoyed it a lot."
"Maybe I did," you giggled, drunkenness clear in your every move. "Should we do it again?"
Without overthinking, you closed the gap between you, pressing your lips to his in a bold, impulsive kiss. It was tentative at first, testing the waters, but then you felt Carlos smile against your lips, his hands tightening on your waist as he pulled you closer, deepening the kiss.
As the kiss intensified, you felt Carlos's hands slide from your waist to your lower back, pressing you even closer against him. The heat of his body contrasted with the cool night air, sending shivers down your spine. Your own hands moved up to tangle in his hair, earning a low groan from him that you felt more than heard.
Breaking apart for air, Carlos rested his forehead against yours, his breath coming in quick pants. "I'm crazy about you, Piastri," he murmured before leaning in for another kiss.
You were so lost in the moment that you didn't hear the footsteps of someone approaching.
"You freaking muppets! I knew it!"
You broke apart, startled, to see Lando standing there, a triumphant grin on his face.
"Lando!" you whined, burying your face in Carlos's chest. "Leave us alone!"
Carlos chuckled, his arms still around you. "How long have you known, cabron?"
"Please, you two are about as subtle as a neon sign," Lando smirked, crossing his arms. "Oh, this is too good. You two are so busted."
"Lando, please," Carlos started, but you cut him off.
"Go away, Lando!" you whined, clinging to Carlos. "We're busy."
Lando laughed, shaking his head. "Alright, alright. I'll leave you lovebirds alone. But we're definitely talking about this later!"
As Lando walked away, you turned back to Carlos, wrapping your arms around his neck, suddenly feeling very tired and more than a little drunk. "Take me home?" you asked, your words slurring slightly.
"Of course, mi amor," Carlos nodded, pressing a kiss to your forehead. "I'll drive you to Oscar's."
"Nooo," you whined, clinging to him. "I want to stay with you tonight. Please?"
Carlos hesitated for a moment, clearly torn. "YN, you're pretty drunk. Are you sure that's a good idea?"
You nodded vigorously, then immediately regretted it as the world spun. "I'm sure. I just want to be with you. Please?"
"Alright, alright, you win. Let’s get you back to my place," he said gently, wrapping an arm around your waist to steady you.
You beamed at him, pressing a sloppy kiss to his cheek. "Thank you, little bitch."
The night might have been a blur, but one thing was crystal clear—you were falling hard for Carlos Sainz, and you wouldn't have it any other way.

You could practically hear your friend's and brother's laugh through the phone as you muted the conversation. Shaking your head, you grabbed your jacket and headed out to meet Carlos.
He was waiting for you outside, leaning against a lamppost with casual smile. The sight of him - dressed in jeans and a simple t-shirt, his hair slightly tousled by the breeze - made your heart skip a beat.
"There you are," he said, his face lighting up as you approached. "Ready to go?"
Without thinking twice about it, you wrapped your arms his shoulders and pulled him in for a kiss, taking him by surprise. Carlos' eyes widened but he quickly melted into it, his arms wrapping around your waist. When you finally pulled away, he was looking at you with a mix of delight and wonder.
"Well," he said, a bit breathlessly, "that's quite a hello. What was that for?"
You shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant despite the blush creeping up your cheeks. "Do I need a reason to kiss you?"
"No, hermosa," he said, pulling you closer. "You never need a reason. You're allowed to kiss me whenever you want."
With a playful glint in your eye. You pulled him in and kissed him again.
God you were down bad, it's embarrassing.
"Dios mio," he murmured as you pulled away, "I could get used to this."
You laughed, linking your arm with his as you started walking. "Don't get too comfortable, little bitch. I still have a reputation to maintain."
Carlos chuckled, pressing a kiss to your temple. "Of course, Piastri. Whatever you say."
As you strolled through the streets of Montreal, you found yourself initiating more little touches - a squeeze of his hand, a kiss on the cheek, leaning into him as you walked. Each time, you noticed how Carlos's face would light up, how he'd pull you a little closer.
It occurred to you that maybe he'd been holding back, worried about pushing you too far or too fast.
For the past month, you'd been letting your guard down, bit by bit. Carlos had somehow managed to sneak past your defenses with his charm and the warmth that had been hidden beneath all that banter. You'd always prided yourself on being independent, on not letting anyone get too close. But with Carlos, things felt different, at least now they did.
Still, there were moments when doubt crept in, when old insecurities bubbled to the surface. What if this was all just a fling for him? What if you were reading too much into the way he looked at you, the way he seemed to treasure every kiss and touch? What if you eventually went back to your bitterness towards each other?
You hadn't put a label on whatever this was between you, and the ambiguity sometimes left you feeling unsteady, as if you were walking on a tightrope without a safety net.
But bringing it up to him felt intimidating.
"Whats on your mind?" Carlos asked once he noticed that you went quiet and your eyes were wandering.
You considered bringing up the subject, but decided to ignore the thought for now.
"Nothing," you replied with a small smile, squeezing his hand. "Just thinking about how Lando is going to have our heads for not wanting to hang out with him."
Carlos chuckled, shaking his head. "Lando will survive. He can’t have us all to himself all the time."

As the Spanish Grand Prix weekend approached, you found yourself in Barcelona, exploring the city with Carlos in a way you never imagined possible.
The man who once irritated you beyond belief was now showing you his childhood spots, sharing stories of his youth with a boyish enthusiasm that made your heart flutter.
When you told Oscar about your plans to head to Barcelona early with Carlos, you braced yourself for the teasing that was sure to follow.
Your brother didn't disappoint, his eyes lighting up with mischief as he launched into a series of jokes about you "fraternizing with the enemy" and how you'd "finally succumbed to Sainz's charms." But beneath the banter, you could see the genuine happiness in Oscar's eyes.
After the laughter died down, he pulled you into a hug and told you he was glad you'd found someone who made you happy, even if it was "that Spanish menace."
He was the best brother you could've asked for.
"And this," Carlos said, gesturing to a small, unassuming restaurant tucked away in a narrow street, "is where you'll find the best paella in all of Barcelona. Maybe even in all of Spain."
"That's a bold claim, Sainz," you raised an eyebrow skeptically. "You better not be overselling it."
"Would I ever lie to you, Piastri?"
"Yes, absolutely," you retorted, but there was no bite to your words.
As you sat down to eat, the aroma of saffron and seafood filled the air. Carlos watched expectantly as you took your first bite, and you couldn't help but close your eyes in delight at the flavors.
"Okay, I'll admit it," you said, opening your eyes to see his triumphant smile. "This might actually be the best paella I've ever had."
"I told you!" he exclaimed, looking far too pleased with himself. "Never doubt a Spaniard when it comes to paella."
"Alright, you win this round," you rolled your eyes playfully, but couldn't help the smile that tugged at your lips.
As you continued to enjoy the meal, a comfortable silence settled between you and Carlos. It was in these quiet moments that you found yourself marveling at how far you'd come - from barely tolerating each other to... whatever this was now.
"You know, I've been thinking," Carlos broke the silence, his voice softer than usual, "We've talked a lot about my childhood here in Spain, but I realize I don't know much about your early years in Australia."
You looked up from your plate, a bit surprised by the sudden change in topic. "Oh, well, what do you want to know?"
Carlos leaned forward, his elbows on the table, genuine curiosity in his warm brown eyes. "Everything. What was it like growing up there? What did little YN enjoy back then?”
You paused for a moment, caught off guard by Carlos's question. Your mind immediately went to your childhood memories with Oscar, and you found yourself launching into a familiar narrative.
"Well, growing up in Australia was quite an adventure, especially with Oscar around," you began, a fond smile playing on your lips, “Oscar's always been obsessed with anything that has wheels. Even as a toddler, he'd zoom around the house with his toy cars, making engine noises..."
As you launched into the story of Oscar's journey from go-karts to Formula 1, you found yourself getting carried away with the memories. You talked about the early morning drives to races, the smell of petrol and rubber that became a constant in your life, the way your parents juggled work and Oscar's growing career.
"...and then there was this one time, Oscar was about 14, and he'd just won a major championship. The interviewer asked him who his biggest inspiration was, and do you know what he said?" You paused, smiling at the memory.
Carlos shook his head, completely engrossed in your story.
"He said it was me. Can you believe that? His older sister who couldn't tell a thing about cars. I think I cried for an hour after that interview."
As you finished your tale, you noticed Carlos watching you with an unreadable expression. "What?" you asked, suddenly self-conscious.
Carlos smiled softly, reaching across the table to take your hand.
"Hermosa," he said gently, "I asked about your childhood, and you've told me all about Oscar's racing career."
You blinked, realizing he was right. "Oh, I... I guess I got carried away. Sorry about that."
"No, no," Carlos squeezed your hand reassuringly. "I love hearing about Oscar, truly. But I want to know about you. What did you like growing up? What were your passions, your dreams?"
You blinked, suddenly realizing that you had automatically steered the conversation towards Oscar, as you had done countless times before when asked about your childhood. The fact that Carlos had redirected the focus back to you left you momentarily speechless.
"I... wow," you said, your voice barely above a whisper. "I don't think anyone's ever asked me that before."
"Really? But surely people must have been interested in your childhood too?"
You shrugged, feeling a sudden lump in your throat. "Not really. I mean, Oscar was always the star, you know? My pride and joy, the racing prodigy. People were always more interested in his story."
Carlos squeezed your hand gently. "Well, I'm interested in your story. Tell me about little YN Piastri, not just Oscar's sister."
You took a deep breath, feeling a lot of emotions you couldn't quite name. Carlos's genuine interest in your personal story touched something deep within you, a part of yourself you'd almost forgotten existed.
"Actually," you began, your voice soft as you delved into long-buried memories, "I was always drawn to art. Not just painting or drawing, but all forms of visual expression. I remember spending hours in our backyard, arranging leaves and flowers into patterns, or using chalk to create massive, colorful murals on our driveway."
"That sounds beautiful. Did you take classes?" Carlos leaned in, his eyes bright with interest.
"Not really. I wasn't great in school, to be honest. Sitting still, focusing on textbooks - it just wasn't my strong suit. But give me a blank canvas or a lump of clay, and I could lose myself for hours."
"So why didn't you pursue it?" Carlos asked gently.
You paused, considering Carlos's question. It was something you'd never really articulated before, even to yourself.
"I guess... I never saw it as something to pursue," you said slowly. "My focus was always on Oscar. From the moment he started showing promise in racing, I just naturally fell into the role of his protector, his support system."
You smiled softly, remembering those early days. "Oscar was so talented, but he was also just a kid with big dreams and even bigger pressures. I felt like it was my job to shield him from the worst of it, to be his safe haven. It wasn't a sacrifice, not really. It was a choice I made out of love. Oscar's success, his happiness - that became my passion."
"But what about your art?" Carlos pressed, his tone careful but curious.
You shrugged, a mix of emotions flickering across your face. "It just… faded into the background, I guess. There were always races to attend, equipment to pack. My sketchbooks got buried under stacks of racing magazines. My easel gathered dust in the corner of my room."
Carlos reached across the table, taking your hand in his. "YN , that's… that's incredibly selfless of you. But don't you miss it?"
You felt a wave of emotion wash over you at Carlos's question, his gentle touch grounding you.
"I do," you admitted softly, your eyes meeting his. "I've been Oscar's sister, his supporter, for so long. I'm not sure I remember how to be anything else."
"Oh, mi amor," Carlos said softly, his thumb gently stroking the back of your hand. "You're so much more than just Oscar's sister. You're YN - a woman with a beautiful heart and a determinate mind. Your love for Oscar is admirable, but it doesn't have to be the only thing that defines you," he paused, a hint of vulnerability in his eyes, "I'm honored to be close to that woman. The one who sees beauty in leaves and flowers, who can lose herself in creating art, even when she forgets about it."
Your heart skipped a beat at his words, a warmth spreading through your chest. But old habits die hard, and you found yourself deflecting with humor. "Wow, Sainz," you said, a teasing glint in your eye. "Are you always this sappy, or am I just special?"
Carlos's face broke into a grin, recognizing your playful tone. "Only for you, Piastri. I have a reputation to maintain, you know."
"Oh please," you rolled your eyes, but your smile betrayed you. "Your reputation as what? A little bitch?"
Carlos' face broke into a wide grin, "One day you'll stop calling me that."
You couldn't help but laugh, the tension of the earlier conversation dissolving into familiar banter. "Keep telling yourself that, Sainz."

Saturday arrived in Barcelona, which meant it was time for qualifying.
After your quick rendezvous with Carlos in his motorhome - something that was routine by now- you made your way towards the paddock club to meet Alex and Kika. Your mind was still buzzing from Carlos' touch, your skin tingling where his lips had been just moments ago.
Your hair was slightly tousled, a result of Carlos' fingers running through it. You could still feel the ghost of his kisses on your neck, and the memory sent a shiver down your spine. Pausing briefly, you tried to smooth down your clothes and fix your appearance in the reflection of a nearby trailer. The last thing you needed was more knowing looks from your friends, you had enough when Lando teasing you and Carlos whenever he had the chance.
Approaching the paddock club, you spotted Alex and Kika waiting for you near the entrance.
"Hey, there you are!" Alex called out as you neared. "We were starting to wonder if you'd gotten lost."
You rolled your eyes playfully. "In a place I've been coming to for years? Not likely."
The three of you sat down at a nearby table and ordered something to drink. The conversation flowed easily, touching on everything from race predictions to the latest paddock gossip.
"So," Kika said, leaning forward towards you, "how are things going with Carlos? You two seem pretty cozy lately."
You felt a blush creeping up your neck, the warmth spreading to your cheeks. You took a sip of your drink to buy yourself a moment, but you couldn't hide the smile that tugged at your lips. "Things are good. Really good, actually."
"But…?" Alex's eyes narrowed slightly as she studied your face.
"But nothing," you shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant. "We're just enjoying each other's company."
Kika's eyebrows shot up, her expression a mix of surprise and disbelief. "Wait, has he not asked you to be his girlfriend yet? I thought for sure you two would be official by now."
Her words hit you like a punch to the gut, bringing all your insecurities rushing to the surface. The ones you've tried to push away since this thing with Carlos began.
You tried to keep your expression neutral, but your friends knew you too well. The smile you'd been wearing moments ago faltered, and you could feel the doubt creeping in.
"Hey," Alex said softly, reaching out to squeeze your hand. "I'm sure it doesn't mean anything. Carlos is crazy about you, anyone can see that. Every relationship moves at its own pace."
You nodded, forcing a smile that didn't quite reach your eyes. "Yeah, of course. We're just taking things slow, that's all."
But as the conversation moved on to other topics, you couldn't shake the doubt that had taken root in your mind. You found yourself only half-listening, your thoughts a swirling mess of questions and insecurities.
Why hadn't Carlos made things official? Was he keeping his options open? Were you still just his rival's sister who picked fights with him in his eyes? The rational part of your brain tried to argue that labels didn't matter, that what you and Carlos had was special regardless of what you called it. But the insecure part wouldn't be silenced so easily.
As you sat there, surrounded by the chatter of your friends and the energy of the circuit, you felt a strange sense of isolation creep over you. You were in Carlos' home city, surrounded by his world, and yet you'd never felt more unsure of your place in it.

"Finally," Carlos breathed, as he opened the door. Before you could utter a word, he grabbed your wrist and pulled you inside, kicking the door shut behind you. In one fluid motion, he pressed you against the wall, his body flush against yours.
"Carlos, what-" you started, but he silenced you with a searing kiss.
When he finally pulled away, you were both breathless. "Sorry," he murmured, his forehead resting against yours. "I've been wanting to do that all day."
"You saw me right after the race, you needy little bitch."
Carlos' hands slid down to your waist, pulling you closer. "That was hours ago. Far too long."
"Seriously?" you teased, though you couldn't keep the affection out of your voice. "You're ridiculous, Sainz."
"Maybe," he conceded, his lips finding that sensitive spot just below your ear. "But you like it."
Carlos began to trail kisses down your neck, his touch igniting sparks across your skin. You laughed as he pulled you towards the bed, your fingers intertwining with his.
"Slow down, hotshot. The bed's not going anywhere."
"But my patience might," he turned to face you, "Do you know how hard it was to focus on the post-race interviews when all I could think about was getting you alone?"
"Oh, poor baby," you teased gently, reaching up to run your fingers through his hair. "It must have been tough, going over the race data after a P6 finish."
Carlos groaned dramatically, pulling you closer. "Torture, hermosa. Absolute torture."
Carlos guided you towards the bed, his hands never leaving your body. With a gentle push, he lowered you onto the mattress, quickly following to hover above you. His lips found yours again, the kiss deep and passionate, as his hands roamed your sides, slipping under the hem of your shirt.
You arched into his touch, your own hands exploring the firm planes of his back. Carlos broke the kiss to trail his lips along your jawline, down to the sensitive spot on your neck that always made you gasp.
"You're really needy today, aren't you?" you said, running your fingers through his hair.
Carlos' lips quirked into a smirk, his eyes softening with affection. "I'm always needy when it comes to my girl," he murmured, leaning in to capture your lips once more.
Your breath caught in your throat, not just from the sensation of his warm breath on your skin, but from his words. My girl. The phrase echoed in your mind, stirring up the doubts you'd been trying to push away.
Suddenly, Kika's voice from your earlier conversation rang in your ears. "Wait, has he not asked you to be his girlfriend yet?"
The warmth that had been building in your chest turned cold as uncertainty crept in. If you were his girl, then why hadn't he made it official?
Carlos must have sensed your sudden tension because he pulled back slightly, his brow furrowing. "YN? What's wrong?"
You forced a smile, trying to shake off the doubts. "Nothing," you said, your voice not quite as steady as you'd hoped.
He studied your face for a moment, concern evident in his eyes. "Are you sure? We can stop if you're not feeling it."
"No, no," you assured him quickly, not wanting to ruin the moment. "I'm fine. Just… got distracted for a second."
Carlos didn't look entirely convinced, but he nodded slowly. "Okay, but promise me you'll tell me if something's bothering you?"
You nodded, pulling him back down for another kiss. As you lost yourself in the sensation of his lips on yours and his hands on your body, you pushed your concerns to the back of your mind.
A few moments later, you laid tangled beneath the covers, your head resting on Carlos' chest, his fingers tracing lazy patterns on your bare shoulder. The afterglow should have been blissful, but your mind was elsewhere, racing with thoughts you couldn't quiet.
Carlos must have sensed your unease because he shifted slightly, tilting his head to look at you. "YN? What's wrong, hermosa? You seem… distant. Are you not feeling well?"
You sighed, debating whether to voice your concerns. "It's nothing, really. I just…" you trailed off, unsure how to continue.
"Hey," he said softly, his hand moving to cup your cheek. "Talk to me. What's going on in that beautiful head of yours?"
You bit your lip, your heart racing. "It's just… when you called me 'your girl' earlier… I don't know. It made me think."
"Think about what?" Carlos' brow furrowed slightly. "Did I say something wrong?"
"No, no, you didn't," you assured him quickly. "It's more about… us, I guess. About what we are. What this is between us."
"YN," he said, his voice low and intense. "I thought I've been clear about how I feel about you. I've been yours since that kiss at Jimmy'z last year. Maybe even before that, if I'm being honest."
His words should have reassured you, but they only made your anxiety spike. You sat up abruptly, pulling the sheet around you.
You'd wanted clarity, but now that you had it, you didn't know how to handle it.
"But what does that mean, Carlos?" you asked, your voice trembling slightly. "We've been doing... whatever this is for months now, but we've never really talked about it. We haven't put a label on it."
Carlos sat up too, his expression a mix of confusion and concern. "I didn't think we needed to. I thought it was obvious how I felt about you."
"Obvious?" you repeated, a hint of frustration creeping into your voice. "How is it obvious when we've never actually discussed what we are to each other?"
Carlos reached for your hand, but you pulled away, standing up from the bed. You began pacing, your mind racing.
"YN, please," Carlos said, his voice soft. "Come back to bed. Let's talk about this."
You shook your head, reaching for your clothes. "I can't... I need to think. I need some space."
As you hurriedly dressed, Carlos got out of bed, pulling on his boxers. "Are you really running away, Piastri?" he asked, a hint of anger in his voice now. "I thought we were past this. That you weren't that arrogant girl who was ready to pick up pointless fights with me anymore."
His words stung, cutting deeper than you thought possible. It felt like a physical blow, knocking the air from your lungs and leaving you reeling. The accusation brought back all the insecurities you'd been trying to suppress, all the doubts about whether you deserved this happiness with Carlos. It was as if he'd reached into your chest and squeezed your heart, leaving you raw and vulnerable.
You whirled to face him, eyes flashing with hurt and anger. "Arrogant? Is that what you think of me?"
"No, that's not what I meant," Carlos ran a hand through his hair, frustration evident in his voice. "I just... I thought we'd moved past the point where you'd run away instead of talking to me."
"Maybe I wouldn't feel the need to run if you'd actually communicate with me," you shot back.
"Communicate?" Carlos scoffed. "That's rich coming from you. You're the one who's been keeping me at arm's length this whole time!"
The accusation hit you like a slap. "What are you talking about?"
"Oh, come on, YN," Carlos said, his voice rising. "Every time things get too real, you pull away. You make a joke, you change the subject. It's like you're afraid of admitting that this might actually mean something."
"That's not fair," you protested, feeling tears prick at your eyes. "I'm here, aren't I? I've been here! But how am I supposed to be sure that this isn't just a fling for you? Or some twisted way to mess with Oscar?"
"Oscar?" Carlos looked you with wide eyes, shaking his head, "What does Oscar have to do with anything? This is about us, YN. You and me."
"Is it?" you challenged, your voice breaking. "Because sometimes I don't even know what 'us' means. Are we together? Are we just having fun? How am I supposed to know?"
Carlos' expression softened slightly, but his frustration was still evident. "You're not being fair, Piastri. I've always been the one to show my desire to be with you. I did it that night after Lando's party, remember? But you're the one who runs away when things get real."
His words hit home, and you felt a fresh wave of guilt and confusion wash over you.
"I don't... I don't run away," you said weakly, but even to your own ears, it sounded unconvincing.
"Don't you?" Carlos asked, his voice softening. "Every time I try to take a step forward, you take three steps back. I'm not the one who's afraid of labels here."
Silence lingered in the air, you felt physically sick. Carlos' words were true, every single one of them, deep down you knew it. As much as you tried to let your guard down with him, your self defense mechanisms always came through.
"When are you going to stop sabotaging your own happiness for other people?" Carlos asked after another minute of silence. "This isn't about Oscar, or anyone else. It's about you being too scared to admit that you might actually care about me."
His words hit you like a punch to the gut, once again. "Scared? You think I'm scared? I'm terrified, Carlos! Terrified of getting hurt, of ruining everything. And you're not exactly making it easy.""
"How am I not making it easy?" Carlos demanded, his voice rising. "I've been nothing but clear about my feelings for you. Every time I get close, you shut down!" Carlos shouted, his frustration boiling over. "It's like you're allergic to any kind of emotional intimacy!"
"Oh, that's something coming from you," you spat back. "Mr. 'I-can-charm-anyone-with-a-smile'. How do I know this isn't just another conquest for you?"
The moment the words left your mouth, you regretted them. You saw the hurt flash across Carlos' face, quickly replaced by anger.
"A conquest?" he repeated, his voice dangerously low. "Is that really what you think of me? After everything I've shared with you?"
"I don't know what to think anymore," you said, your voice breaking. "This whole thing is just... it's too much. I can't do this."
You turned towards the door, reaching for the handle. Carlos stepped forward, his anger dissipating, replaced by desperation.
"YN, wait," he pleaded. "Please, don't go. Not like this. Let's talk, mi amor. Don't run from me."
The term of endearment, spoken so softly, almost broke your resolve. You paused, your hand on the doorknob, torn between the urge to flee and the desire to fall into his arms.
"I... I can't, Carlos," you whispered, your voice thick with tears. "I need some time. Some space to think."
"YN, please," Carlos said, his voice barely above a whisper. "We can figure this out together. Just... stay. Please."
You turned to look at him one last time, your heart breaking at the pain in his eyes. "I'm sorry," you managed to say. "I'll... I'll call you later."
And with that, you stepped out into the hallway, leaving Carlos standing alone in his room.
You immediately felt like you made a huge mistake.

You were curled up on the couch in your apartment, a blanket wrapped around your shoulders, staring blankly at the TV screen. The sound was muted, the flickering images providing a distraction you desperately needed but couldn't quite focus on. Your phone lay face down on the coffee table, ignored despite the occasional vibration of incoming messages.
Your mind wandered to Carlos, it always did.
The memory of your argument played on repeat in your head, each hurtful word a fresh wound. You couldn't shake the image of his face - the hurt, the anger, the desperation in his eyes as you walked out the door. It haunted you.
Everything that had happened that night felt like a blur. The passion of your initial encounter, the tenderness of his touch, the way he called you "his girl" - it all seemed so perfect until your insecurities came crashing in. You wondered if you had overreacted, if you had let your fears get the best of you.
Carlos had been right about one thing - you did have a tendency to run when things got too real. It was a defense mechanism, a way to protect yourself from getting hurt. But in doing so, were you sabotaging your own happiness, like he said?
The only thing you were sure about was that it wasn't physical attraction or the remaining tension of your bickering from last year anymore, Carlos saw you in a way no one else did, and that terrified you as much as it thrilled you.
Your conversation with Lando from earlier that day came back to you. You had called him in a moment of panic, spilling out all your fears and doubts. Lando, ever the unusual voice of reason, had listened patiently.
"YN," he had said, his voice gentle but firm, "you can't let your insecurities ruin what you and Carlos could have. I've known him for years, and I've never seen him like this with anyone else. He really cares about you."
"But what if it doesn't work out?" you had asked, your voice small. "What if we end up hating each other again?"
Lando had chuckled at that. "You two are so stubborn, you know that? You're both so afraid of letting your guard down that you're pushing each other away. Someone needs to take the first step, YN. And from what Carlos has told me, he's been trying. Maybe it's your turn."
His words echoed in your mind now, mixing with the memory of Carlos' plea for you to stay.
You made a huge mistake by walking away that night, and now you didn't know how to fix it.
A soft knock on the door startled you out of your thoughts. You hesitated, not wanting to face anyone, but another, more insistent knock followed.
"YN? It's me, open up," Oscar's voice called from the other side.
With a sigh, you pushed yourself off the couch and shuffled to the door. When you opened it, your brother's concerned face greeted you.
"Hey," Oscar said softly, his eyes scanning your disheveled appearance. "Can I come in?"
You nodded, stepping aside to let him enter. Oscar walked in, his gaze taking in the dim lighting and the general disarray of your usually tidy living room. He turned to face you, worry etched across his features.
"What's going on, sis? I heard you're not going to Austria," he said, his voice gentle but probing. "And it looks like you haven't slept in days."
You shrugged, avoiding his gaze. "I just need a break," you mumbled, moving back to the couch and curling up in your previous position.
Oscar followed, sitting down beside you.
He reached out and placed a comforting hand on your shoulder, his touch gentle and familiar. "YN, talk to me. What's really going on? Is this about Carlos?"
At the mention of Carlos' name, you felt a fresh wave of emotion wash over you. You bit your lip, trying to hold back the tears that threatened to spill. Oscar noticed your reaction and pulled you into a tight hug.
"Oh, sis," he murmured, rubbing soothing circles on your back. "What happened?"
You buried your face in your brother's shoulder, finally letting the tears fall. Between sobs, you started to explain everything that had happened in Barcelona - the conversation with Kika and Alex, your growing insecurities, the night in Carlos's hotel room, your argument. As you spoke, you could feel the weight of the past week pressing down on you, the emotions you'd been bottling up threatening to spill over.
"…and now, I don't know what to do," you finished, your voice barely above a whisper. "I feel like I've ruined everything."
"YN, listen to me. You haven't ruined anything," Oscar said, "Relationships are complicated, and misunderstandings happen. But from what you've told me and what I've seen, it sounds like Carlos cares about you a lot. And I think you care about him too, more than you're willing to admit to yourself."
"But what if it all goes wrong?" you wiped your eyes, sniffling. "What if we end up hating each other even more than we did before? What if... what if I'm not enough for him?"
Oscar shook his head, a small smile on his face. "You've always been your own worst enemy, you know that?" you almost rolled your eyes at he familiar statement. "Remember when I left for boarding school? You were so upset, convinced that I was leaving you behind forever. You didn't want to say goodbye, afraid it would hurt too much."
The memory flooded back, and you felt a lump form in your throat. "Yeah, I remember," you said softly.
"But do you remember what happened after?" Oscar prompted.
You nodded, a small smile tugging at your lips. "We ended up talking more than ever. Phone calls, letters, video chats…"
"Exactly," Oscar said, squeezing your hand. "You were so scared of losing me that you almost pushed me away. But when you finally opened up, our relationship grew stronger than ever."
"That's different, Oscar. This is… it's Carlos. It's complicated."
"Is it?" Oscar challenged. "Or are you just making it complicated because you're scared? I've seen the way you two look at each other. It's not just some leftover tension from your rivalry. It's real."
You sighed, pulling the blanket tighter around yourself. "But what if-"
"No more 'what ifs'," Oscar interrupted. "You can't live your life afraid of what might happen. You're missing out on what's right in front of you," you were quiet for a moment, considering his words until he spoke again, "I know you’ve held back a lot in your life—for me, for our family—but I don’t want you holding back when it comes to Carlos.”
You blinked, slightly caught off guard. “What do you mean?”
Oscar hesitated for a moment, choosing his words carefully. “I mean… I’ve seen how much you sacrifice for the people you love. You’ve put so much of your own life on hold to support me, and I’ll always be grateful for that. But when it comes to Carlos—this thing between you—it’s different. I would never forgive myself if you sacrificed that for my sake.”
Your heart clenched at his words, and you realized how much Oscar understood you, maybe even more than you realized. “Oscar, I’m not holding back for you, I—”
“I know you’re not doing it consciously," he interrupted gently, "But I can see it. You’re worried about how our dynamic will change, or maybe how I’ll react. But, YN, I want you to be happy. If being with Carlos makes you happy, then I want you to go for it. Don’t worry about me. Don’t worry about anyone else.”
You sat there, absorbing what Oscar said. His words made you feel a lot of different things all at once. You realized he was right - you had been holding back, not just with Carlos, but in many parts of your life. This scared you, but also made you feel free.
It was time to put yourself first.
"I hate that you're always so wise, you're my little brother, I'm supposed to be the one giving you advice, not the other way around."
"To be fair, I was thrown into the motorsport world at an early age, you experience all kinds of drama there," he shrugged, making both of you laugh, "Now, are you going to talk to him, or do I need to drag you to Austria myself? Or even Madrid?"
You let out a small laugh, the first genuine one in days. "I guess I'll talk to him. But I still don't feel like going to Austria, I need some time to gather my thoughts."
"Fair enough," Oscar nodded, "Just don't take too long, okay? You both deserve to be happy. And Lando is freaking out because you're ruining his dreams again."

You paced nervously in your apartment, your heart racing as you waited for Carlos to arrive. The soft carpet muffled your footsteps but did nothing to quiet the storm of thoughts in your head. You had rehearsed what you wanted to say a hundred times, but now that the moment was here, all your carefully prepared words seemed to evaporate.
Your eyes flitted to the clock on the wall, then to your phone, checking the time for what felt like the thousandth time. The knock on the door made you jump, your pulse skyrocketing. You took a deep breath, trying to calm your nerves. "It's just Carlos," you told yourself, but that thought brought both comfort and a new wave of anxiety.
With trembling hands, you smoothed down your shirt and ran a hand through your hair before opening the door. Carlos stood there, looking tired but as handsome as ever. His hair was slightly tousled, as if he'd been running his hands through it—a nervous habit you'd noticed before.
His eyes lit up when he saw you, a mix of relief and apprehension in his gaze. For a moment, you both just stared at each other, the air heavy with unspoken words and emotions.
"Hi," you said softly, your voice barely above a whisper. You stepped aside to let him in, hyper-aware of his presence as he moved past you.
"Hi," he replied, his voice warm as he entered.
You led him to the living room, settling on the couch. There was a moment of awkward silence, the tension palpable. You both opened your mouths to speak at the same time.
"I'm sorry—“
"I wanted to—"
You both laughed, some of the tension dissipating. The sound of his laughter, even tinged with nervousness, helped to ease some of your anxiety.
"You go first," Carlos said, his eyes soft as he looked at you. His gaze was patient, encouraging, and you drew strength from it.
You took a deep breath, your hands fidgeting in your lap. You forced yourself to meet his eyes, knowing he deserved your full honesty. "Carlos, I'm so sorry for running away in Barcelona. It wasn't fair to you, and I've been kicking myself ever since. I… I panicked. Everything was happening so fast, and I just… I couldn't handle it."
He nodded, his expression understanding. He reached out to take your hand, his touch sending a shiver through you. "I appreciate that, YN. Truly. But I owe you an apology too. I shouldn't have pushed you or made assumptions about your feelings. I got caught up in the moment and didn't consider how overwhelming it might be for you."
"No, Carlos, you were right," you shook your head, squeezing his hand. "I do run away when things get too real. It's not fair to you, and it's not fair to myself either."
You paused, gathering your courage. Your heart was pounding so hard you were sure Carlos must be able to hear it. "The truth is, I care about you. A lot. More than I've cared about anyone in a long time. And that terrifies me."
Carlos moved closer, his free hand coming up to cup your cheek. The tenderness in his touch almost undid you. "Why does it terrify you, mi amor?" he asked softly, his eyes searching yours.
You leaned into his touch, feeling tears prick at your eyes. The vulnerability of the moment was almost overwhelming, but you forced yourself to continue. "Because I'm not used to feeling this vulnerable. I've always prided myself on being independent, on not needing anyone. It's been my armor, my way of protecting myself. But with you… you see parts of me that I don't show anyone else. You've managed to slip past all my defenses, and it scares me how much I want to let you in completely."
Carlos listened intently, his thumb gently stroking your cheek as you spoke. His warmth, his steady presence, made the walls you had built around yourself seem almost unnecessary.
"It's okay to be scared, hermosa. I understand why you feel like you need to protect yourself. But you don’t have to do it alone anymore. I’m here, and I want to be here for you, with you."
Your heart swelled at his words, and despite the vulnerability, a small part of you felt lighter, freer. "I’ve never let anyone get this close before," you admitted. "But I don’t want to keep running, Carlos. I don’t want to keep pushing you away."
Carlos smiled softly, his eyes filled with a tenderness that made your chest tighten. "I don’t want you to run, either. I want us to be together, whatever comes next. But only if that’s what you want."
You exhaled shakily, emotions swirling inside you like a storm. "It is what I want," you said, your voice firm but laced with emotion. "I want to be with you. I’m tired of being scared of something that could be so good."
A look of pure relief crossed Carlos' face, and he pulled you into his arms. You buried your face in his chest, breathing in his familiar scent, feeling his heart beating steadily under your cheek. His arms wrapped around you tightly, as if he were afraid you might disappear.
"I'm not going anywhere," you whispered, answering the unspoken fear that lingered between you both.
Carlos kissed the top of your head, his breath warm against your hair. "You have no idea how happy it makes me to hear you say that."
You pulled back slightly to look up at him, your hands resting on his chest, "I promise I'll change, I'll be-"
"Mi amor," Carlos interrupted softly, "I don't want to change you. I fell for you exactly as you are—stubborn, brilliant, and fiercely independent. Those are the qualities that drew me to you in the first place."
You couldn't help but smile at that, feeling a warmth spread through your chest. "Even when I was being a pain in your ass?" you asked, a hint of your usual sass creeping into your voice.
"Especially then," he chuckled, the sound warming you from the inside out. "You know, even when we were at each other's throats, I was always drawn to you. I wanted to know you better, to understand what made you such a firecracker."
"Really?" you asked, surprised.
"Really," he confirmed, a soft smile playing on his lips. "Besides, you were infuriatingly attractive when you were angry. The way your eyes would flash, the flush on your cheeks… it took everything in me not to kiss you right then and there sometimes."
You felt a familiar warmth spreading across your cheeks at Carlos' words, but you couldn't help the playful smirk that tugged at your lips. "Oh, so that's why you were always trying to rile me up, huh? And here I thought you were just being an insufferable little bitch."
"Ah, there's the Piastri I know," Carlos threw his head back in laughter. "I was wondering when your sharp tongue would make an appearance."
"You love it," you teased, feeling more like yourself than you had in days.
"I do," he admitted, his eyes twinkling.
Carlos' gaze dropped to your lips. Slowly, he leaned in, giving you plenty of time to pull away if you wanted to. But you didn't want to. Not anymore.
Your eyes fluttered closed as his lips met yours. The kiss was soft at first, tentative, as if he was still afraid you might run. But as you responded, threading your fingers through his hair and pulling him closer, the kiss deepened, filled with all the emotions you had both been holding back.
When you finally pulled apart, Carlos rested his forehead against yours. "I meant every word I said," he murmured. "I'm serious about this. I want to make this work."
You took a deep breath, your heart racing for an entirely different reason now. "I'm serious too, Carlos. It scares me how much I want this, but… I want to be with you."
The smile that broke across Carlos' face was radiant. He cupped your face in his hands and kissed you again.
"You're still my little bitch after all," you couldn't help but laugh as you parted.
"When are you going to change that to something more romantic, hmm?" Carlos rolled his eyes, but he was still smiling. "'Mi amor,' perhaps? Or 'cariño'?"
"How many times do I have to tell you that I failed Spanish in high school?" you rolled your eyes back at him. "And I thought you liked it when I called you that. Didn't you say once that it turned you on?"
"I can neither confirm nor deny that statement," he said with a grin. "But how about this—you can call me your 'little bitch' if you want, but I get to call you my girlfriend. Deal?"
Your heart skipped a beat at the word 'girlfriend.' It should have scared you, but instead, it filled you with warmth.
"Deal," you agreed, pulling him in for another kiss.

The Hungarian Grand Prix had been a whirlwind of emotions. The entire paddock was still buzzing with excitement over Oscar's maiden Formula 1 victory.
Your little brother had driven the race of his life, leading most of the laps to take the checkered flag. The memory of him standing on the top step of the podium, eyes glistening with tears of joy as the Australian national anthem played, was one you'd cherish forever. The pride you felt was indescribable - your baby brother, the kid you'd watched grow up and chase his dreams, was now a Grand Prix winner.
It had been three blissful weeks since you and Carlos had officially become a couple. After your heartfelt conversation at your apartment, you had both taken the time to navigate this new phase of your relationship, and it had been everything you could have hoped for.
Telling your close friends and family was the easy part. Lando practically squealed with delight, Oscar and Carlos had a nice chat, and of course, Nicole Piastri, a fan of dragging her own kids, reminded everyone that you failed Spanish in high school multiple times, so Carlos had to make sure to constantly translate for you. The rest of the paddock had quickly caught on, and soon, Carlos Sainz and the eldest Piastri were the talk of the town.
But you didn't mind the attention. Being with Carlos felt so natural and right.
Now, as you sat in the airport waiting for your delayed flight to Monaco, you couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment. Sure, the hours-long delay was less than ideal, but you were surrounded by the people you cared about most, celebrating Oscar's first win with good old fasioned airport McDonalds.
"I can't believe Oscar got his first win," Lando exclaimed, already halfway through a Big Mac. "That's crazy, mate."
"I know, I still can't believe it," Oscar beamed, "It hasn't really sunk in yet."
You reached over to give your brother's arm an affectionate squeeze. "I'm so proud of you, Osc. You deserve it."
"Thanks, sister. Couldn't have done it without your support all these years."
"Oh, come on," you teased, "I didn't drive that car. That was all you out there."
"Yeah, but you've always been there," Oscar insisted, his voice softening. "Through the karting days, the junior formulas, all of it. It means a lot."
You felt a lump form in your throat, touched by your brother's words. You pulled Oscar into a tight hug, blinking back tears of pride and joy. "You're my little brother, Osc. I'll always be in your corner, no matter what."
Oscar returned the embrace, squeezing you tightly. "I know, YN. And I couldn't ask for a better cheerleader."
When you finally pulled apart, you noticed the others watching with fond smiles.
Across the lounge, Carlos was engaged in an animated conversation with Lando, their voices a low hum in the background. You couldn't help but watch him, admiring the way his eyes crinkled when he laughed, the graceful movement of his hands as he gesticulated. Even in casual clothes, hair slightly mussed from the long day, he took your breath away.
As if sensing your gaze, Carlos looked up, his eyes meeting yours. The soft smile that spread across his face sent a flutter through your chest. You patted the empty spot next to you on the couch, a silent invitation. He nodded, excusing himself from his conversation with Lando, which couldn't help but tease about the two of you being codependent now.
"Missing me already, mi amor?" Carlos teased as he approached.
You rolled your eyes playfully, but couldn't keep the smile off your face. "Don't flatter yourself, Sainz. I just didn't want you to strain your neck looking over here every five seconds."
Carlos chuckled as he sat down next to you, immediately wrapping an arm around your shoulders and pulling you close. "Ah, but how can I resist when the view is so beautiful?"
You snuggled into his side, inhaling the comforting scent of his cologne. "Smooth talker," you murmured, but there was no bite to your words.
"Only for you, hermosa," he replied, pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
For a while, you sat in comfortable silence, watching as the sun began to set through the large windows. The quiet was occasionally punctuated by laughter from where Oscar, Alex, and Lando were playing some sort of card game.
"How are you feeling?" you asked Carlos softly, noticing the slight droop to his shoulders.
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Tired," he admitted. "It's been a long few weeks. But happy," he added, squeezing you gently. "Very happy."
You smiled, reaching up to cup his cheek. "I'm glad. You drove amazingly this weekend, you know."
"Thank you," Carlos leaned into your touch, his eyes softening. "It means a lot coming from you."
Carlos let out a contented sigh, his hand coming up to cover yours where it rested on his cheek. "I can't wait for the summer break, you know?" he murmured. "Just you and me, in Mallorca. No distractions, no obligations..." he turned his head slightly to press a kiss to your palm, his gaze holding yours. "I've been looking forward to it for weeks. Getting you all to myself, finally."
"That sounds perfect," you sighed happily. "Though I hope your plans also include plenty of time for just lounging around and doing absolutely nothing."
"Of course, whatever you want, hermosa."
"Whatever I want, huh?" you teased, a mischievous glint in your eye. "That's a dangerous offer, Sainz."
"I think I can handle whatever you throw at me, Piastri," he grinned, leaning in closer.
You were about to reply when a french fry hit you squarely on the forehead. You turned to see Oscar looking at you with mock disgust.
"Seriously, you two? We're right here," he groaned.
"Oh, like you and Lily aren't just as bad," you retorted, throwing the fry back at him.
Oscar caught it mid-air, popping it into his mouth with a grin. "At least we have the decency to be gross in private."
"I don't think I'll ever get used to see you all lovey-dovey," Lando chimed in.
"Shut up, Lando," you rolled your eyes, "I seem to recall you being the one who was pushing for this whole thing in the first place."
"Yeah, well," Lando shrugged, "I'm starting to think I preferred it when Carlos thought you were insufferable and you called him a 'little bitch'."
You couldn't help but laugh at that, glancing over at Carlos and pecking his cheek. "Oh, I still do."

ynpiastri my little brother, the grand prix winner 🥺
oscar, watching you stand on that top step today brought tears to my eyes. i still remember the day you left for boarding school to chase your racing dreams. i felt like i was losing my little brother, and a piece of my heart went with you.
but seeing you now, living your dream and achieving what so many thought impossible, all i can feel is an overwhelming sense of pride. you've grown into an incredible man and driver, but you'll always be that kid who used to steal my snacks and beg me to play race cars with him.
your journey hasn't been easy, through every challenge, every setback, you kept pushing. and now, here you are, a grand prix winner, battling with the best (and occasionally a spaniard little bitch 😩)
you've grown so much, but some things never change. like how we're celebrating this monumental victory - stuck in an airport, chowing down on mcdonald's.
i love you so much, little bro ❤️

oscarpiastri Sis, you've got me tearing up in the middle of this crowded airport. Your support has been the backbone of my journey, and I couldn't have done this without you. You've worn so many hats - cheerleader, mentor, occasional bodyguard (those Twitter wars were something else 😂 but look at you and Carlos now). But most importantly, you've been my rock. When Mum and Dad couldn't be there because of work, you stepped up. You've been my third parent in every way that counts. So yeah, we might be stuck in an airport eating McDonald's right now, but I wouldn't want to share this moment with anyone else. You're the best sister and 'bonus parent' a guy could ask for.

The sun hung low on the horizon, painting the sky in oranges, pinks, and purples. The water was gently hitting the side of the yacht, making a calming sound. This peaceful feeling matched the quiet mood around you and Carlos.
You were sprawled out on the deck, lounging on plush cushions as the warm Mallorcan breeze caressed your skin. Carlos lay beside you, propped up on one elbow, his eyes roaming over you with an intensity that sent shivers down your spine.
"You're staring," you murmured, a smile playing at the corners of your lips.
Carlos didn't even try to deny it. "How can I not?" he replied, his voice low and husky. "You're breathtaking, mi amor."
You felt a blush creep up your neck, still not entirely used to the way Carlos could make you feel with just a few words. "Flatterer," you teased, reaching out to run your fingers through his hair.
He leaned into your touch, his eyes closing briefly in contentment. When he opened them again, the look he gave you was filled with such warmth and adoration that it made your heart skip a beat.
"It's not flattery if it's true," Carlos insisted, leaning down to press a soft kiss to your shoulder. "You are the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."
You couldn't help the small gasp that escaped you as his lips trailed up your neck, leaving a trail of fire in their wake. "Carlos," you breathed, your fingers tightening in his hair.
He hummed against your skin, the vibration sending a shiver through you. "Yes, hermosa?"
"Kiss me," you demanded softly, tugging him closer.
Carlos was more than happy to oblige, capturing your lips in a kiss that started gentle but quickly deepened. You lost yourself in the sensation, in the taste of him, in the feeling of his body pressed against yours.
When you finally broke apart, Carlos rested his forehead against yours. "You drive me crazy, you know that?" he murmured, his accent thicker than usual.
"Good. That's the plan," you grinned
Carlos groaned, burying his face in the crook of your neck. "You'll be the death of me, Piastri."
"But what a way to go," you quipped, running your hands down his back.
He chuckled against your skin, the sound sending pleasant vibrations through you. "Indeed."
As Carlos lifted his head to look at you again, something caught your eye over his shoulder. Squinting slightly, you realized what it was and couldn't help but let out a small sigh.
"What is it?" Carlos asked, noticing the change in your expression.
"Don't look now, but we've got company," you said, nodding slightly towards the distance. "Paparazzi, about a hundred meters out."
Carlos groaned, dropping his head back to your shoulder. "Can't we have one moment of peace?"
You ran your fingers soothingly through his hair. "Hey, it's okay. We knew this was part of the deal."
"I know. I just… I want to keep you all to myself sometimes."
The possessiveness in his tone sent a thrill through you. "Well," you said, a mischievous glint in your eye, "if they're going to intrude on our privacy anyway, we might as well give them something to see."
Before Carlos could react, you pulled him down for another kiss, this one slower, deeper, and decidedly more public-friendly than your previous ones. When you pulled back, Carlos looked slightly dazed.
"Dios mio, your family is going to see those," he shook his head, "What will Nicole Piastri think of me? Oscar will run me off the track, too."
You laughed, the sound light and carefree. "Oh, please. My mum adores you, and you know it. As for Oscar, well… he'll just have to get used to it," you shrugged, "He was the one who encouraged this to happen anyway."
Carlos only shook his head with a smile, pulling you in for another kiss, you wrapped your arms around his broad shoulders, feeling his skin against yours.
When you finally broke apart, Carlos's eyes were soft, "Te quiero," he whispered, his voice husky and filled with emotion.
You couldn't help the small smile that tugged at your lips. "I failed Spanish, remember?" you teased gently, your heart racing in your chest.
Carlos's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled back. "I think you know what that means," he replied, his gaze never leaving yours.
"I love you too, you little bitch."
Carlos let out a dramatic groan, but the affection in his expression was unmistakable. "I should have known the sappiness wouldn't last."
"Hey, you signed up for this," you teased, poking him playfully in the chest. "Might as well accept it."
Pulling you close, Carlos pressed a tender kiss to your forehead. "Gladly, mi amor. Gladly."

Anon from before who asked about the request! So happy to hear you’re interested I’m so excited!! I can’t remember if there is a word limit to asks so I may have to send this in two parts. I’ll refer to future Leo as F!Leo and regular Leo as just Leo
So the request is inspired by that one shot you did were Future Leo (rip-) ends up in the past and sees his younger s/o, yelling at his younger self to cherish them before they’re gone
That request? *chefs kiss* mwah, le magnifique~
So a what if idea for a bittersweet contention!
So F!Leo is stuck at the lair while the bros are out patrolling, it’s been a while since F!Leo ran into his s/o’s younger self, and he’s adamant on not letting it happen again. It’s easier for everyone that way…but then his s/o shows up at the lair, looking for younger him. He’s panicked, naturally, but eventually his younger s/o stumbles into him (it’s not like F!Leo had anywhere else to hide aside from the lair anyway). F!Leo speaks in short sentences to his younger s/o as they try to make small talk while making some tea, saying they can just wait for the boys to get back (to F!Leo’s slight, very mild annoyance)
F!Leo is trying to be polite, but the lasting sting is still there
The sting that tells him yes, this is his darling, but it’s not HIS darling. His darling died to the Kraang, he let them down. This alternate version of her wasn’t his. His s/o was gone, nothing was going to bring her back.
While Leo is showing off at nothing, his younger s/o ends up burning themselves with the hot water, having been distracted. Instantly, F!Leo is up out of his chair and making a beeline to them. He’s carefully inspecting their hand, assuring that it’s not a serious burn, and careful getting them a wet flannel
There’s a beat of awkward silence as F!Leo focuses intently on his younger s/o’s hand to avoid looking at their face, meanwhile, his s/o shifts uncomfortably….but F!Leo has his attention on them when they nervously speak up “Do you…not like me, or something?”
Before F!Leo can even say anything, in a desperate, nervous tone, his s/o could reply with soemthing along the lines of
“I mean- it’s just, ever since we met it..it just feels like you’ve been avoiding me? Whenever I come round you’re always so quite, a-and whenever I talk to you it’s like,  I dunno, you always try to use as few words as possible? Yet when you talk with the others, you seem fine”
His s/o would then go on to ask if they did something to upset him, or if in in his timeline she did something bad. All the while F!Leo is just sat there, stunned, because he made his younger s/o feel like they where doing something *wrong?*
Maybe for a fluffy/happy ending it could be wrapped up with F!Leo admitting that - in his timeline - he messed up the lives of so many people (due to the Kraang war). I doubt he’d admit his s/o died in his timeline, but he still has a sad, broken expression on his face as he recalls the day he lost them, HIS s/o.
But then, before he can start crying, his younger s/o places her hand on his arm and says something reassuring? Maybe how no matter how messy things might have been, if she got to spend a messy future with Leo, they’d be happy
Anywho sorry this is SUPER long plz take your time and no worries if you don’t wanna do this one since I know the FUture Leo post was a while ago!

warnings: angst, fluff, unedited, flashbacks, mentions of death?
The work we are discussing ↑
→ Blast From the Past ←
—————————————————————————
This was uncharted territory. Which of course shouldn’t be a big deal to Leo. Not after dealing with Yokai or the Hidden City. Weird shit happens down there all the time. Mysticism is something that no one really understands. (Which drove Donnie crazy) And let’s not forget about the organized crime, like the Foot Clan. Or literal aliens escaping from a prison dimension.
No Man’s Land should be right up Leo’s alley with a track record like that. He should be used to the weird, to the abnormal.
But even with the world’s fate suddenly thrust into his hands, Leo may pick that over getting thrown back into the past. Or a different timeline. Whatever. See! It’s already getting confusing.
Alas fate doesn’t give two shits as to what Leo would rather choose. So here he is, six months later after being dropped 40 years back in time. Back before he royally screwed everything up for everyone. It was heavy at first. The burden of not repeating the same mistake twice. With that out of the way, Kraang imprisoned once again, Leo felt like his purpose was complete.
That was why he got sent back wasn’t it? To right his wrongs. Shouldn’t he have gone up in a cloud of dust? Or a portal should’ve opened up for him to waltz into?! Needless to say none of that happened. So he’s still here, with a bunch of teenagers and his dad and April. All alive and healthy and happy.
Talk about a culture shock. Leo could eat good food again. Go to sleep with both eyes closed. Or well, try to. Old habits die hard. He tries to keep to himself for the most part. There is this weird sense of déjà vu that happens when he runs into anyone from this timeline. Over time the feeling has faded, especially to those who he can’t really avoid. All the brothers check in on him regularly. Leon, (his younger self) begrudgingly does so.
Ever since they had that little spat Leon maintains a certain distance which is perfectly fine with Leo. Boundaries are good. Leo feels safe for the most part in the lair.
That is until you come in. Leo would’ve heard you coming if he hadn’t had headphones on. A luxury that he lost in his own timeline. He missed music. Reading comics. So he thoroughly enjoys all of those things now.
His hearing is a bit impaired due to y’know a war lifestyle. Gunshots and laser canons and all the other weapons Donnie could piece together took their toll overtime. So when he listens to music he has to turn it up pretty high. (Which he would’ve done anyhow).
Leo sits motionless in Dad’s recliner, eyes wide as he watches you shake your umbrella. It’s obviously raining topside. Little water droplets hit the cement floor. Like your umbrella, you aren’t exactly dry either.
You haven’t noticed him yet. Leo hasn’t seen you since the very first time. Back on the rooftops when he used to patrol with the boys. You haven’t changed a bit, and that nostalgic feeling takes over. He sees you and your future self. The way you move, the way you groan in dismay at the tears in your umbrella. How you run your fingers through your damp hair. It’s all so achingly familiar.
Maybe he can make a quick portal getaway. Maybe you’ll never have to know he was here. Maybe if he doesn’t move, doesn’t breathe, you won’t see him.
But as you sigh and place the umbrella propped up to dry, you finally check your surroundings. Your own eyes widening before a smile graces your face. It’s more than he deserves. He wishes he could smile back. But his mouth doesn’t move, in fact it feels like he ate sand. It’s dry and uncomfortable. He’s uncomfortable.
He watches on as you begin to speak. The older version of yourself still right beside you, doing the same thing. Mimicking. Leo swallows as he schools his features and tugs the headphones down to hang around his neck.
“W-what was that?” He asks, clearing his throat after the words come out a bit stilted.
“I hadn’t realized anyone was home! It sure is pouring down and I happened to be nearby when the wind suddenly ramped up and—“ You point over to your damaged umbrella.
“The darn thing couldn’t handle the weather! So I decided to come take refuge here until it dies down.” You pause for a moment. Then continue.
“I called Donnie after getting past the manhole cover. Something about a day in the Hidden City..?”
Leo nods.
You shift your weight. Still standing by the entrance. A bead of rainwater slowly making its way from your hairline, down your cheek, to your jaw. “So I guess they won’t be back til later!” You add on.
“Yeah,” is all Leo can think to say.
He doesn’t want to talk to you. Well he does. But he knows he shouldn’t. He really really shouldn’t. It’s a bad idea for multiple reasons. Even if you already know he’s from the future and all that drama. The less you know the better.
And yet, he can’t help but notice how you’re starting to shiver. His tongue clicks inside his mouth. He’ll just get you a blanket. That’s it! After that he’ll go off to his own subway car.
Leo stands, grabbing a throw blanket off the back of the old couch and walks over to you. He offers the blanket, his eyes firmly planted on the ground. You’re wearing converse, socks that go up to what he would guess is your mid-shin.
Your hand grazes his as you take the blanket. “Thank you,” and that’s all it takes for his eyes to be magnetically drawn upwards. He doesn’t deserve those words. “It’s nothing. You should go sit… or whatever! I’ll get out of here-“ Leo is moving as he talks. Already tearing his gaze away, turning his shell towards you. Making for the exit. To go to his room and hide.
“Don’t go!” You call out to stop him. And he does. Immediately he stills. His shoulders tense as he closes his eyes. Déjà vu. You’ve said that before. In the future...in his timeline. So many times.
“Leo don’t go, we can last a little while longer on the supplies we have.”
“The longer we wait the more dire of a situation it’ll be later on, don’t worry I’ll be back, I’ll be safe,”
“Please don’t go! This mission is impossible!”
“It’s not impossible Donnie ran the numbers and our chances aren’t zero, not trying at all makes it impossible hermosa, don’t worry I’ll be back, I’ll be safe,”
“Y/N?! Nononono. C’mon not like this. You can’t leave me. You’re the one always saying don’t go. So you can’t go either! Don’t go, don’t go, don’t go, please don’t go!
“Leo?” You say softly. He must’ve missed the sound of your footfalls. Because your voice is right behind him. Next to him once more. “Okay,” he sighs after a moment. He turns to see you bundled up in the blanket and squashes down the complicated feelings that try to bubble to the surface.
“Let’s go to the kitchen, Splinter has tea right? Or should I try for the hot chocolate stash?” Leo wonders if these questions are purposefully asked to get him to answer. Thankfully you just keep on talking. You grab onto one of his fingers, and gently pull for him to follow.
So he does, into the kitchen you both go. You tug him towards a stool, where he sits as you get busy. Chatting away about different kinds of tea. How it isn’t your preferred drink but it’s sure to warm you up. Asking what his own favorite is to which he shrugs. Leo’s decided nonverbal is the hill he wants to die on.
You keep on talking. Wondering aloud how the trip to the Hidden City is for everyone. Leo has a feeling that if everyone split up like last time, it’s probably just as hectic as before. Nothing ever goes as planned down in that city.
“The future must’ve been rough…”
Leo blinks, as looks over at you. You’re leaning your back against the countertop. Next to the stove where a kettle has been placed on the nearest burner. Your arms are crossed and you meet his gaze, you don’t say anything else.
“Yeah? What gave it away?” Leo can only let out a dry chuckle. Attempting at humor and failing miserably. His eyes can’t handle staring at you for too long. So his gaze wanders away, finding the silhouette of your future self once more. He looks away from future you as well. He can’t handle that either.
“I don’t know. Maybe your eyes? Like you’ve seen stuff… bad stuff and it haunts you.” And Leo can’t help but think how perceptive you are. He always felt seen when it came to you. He couldn’t hide for long with you in the room. His good hand squeezes into a fist.
“Yeah..?” His voice is weak in his own ears. Cracking. Fragile. And he smells you. The scent of rainwater and lingering tones from your perfume. They get closer. And he closes his eyes. Because they are filling with tears. He breathes in, and out. Then opens to see you standing before him. Even with his sitting down in the stool he’s just a tad bit taller. But he feels so small under your gaze.
“It’s okay,” you whisper. As if you could possibly know. If the boys told you all they knew, that Leo had failed the world, that Kraang had invaded not just New York. That the resistance he led had slowly but surely been picked apart until it was only him left standing. You don’t know what you’re talking about. He knows this, and yet he finds so much comfort in those words.
Maybe because they are coming from you. He doesn’t say anything as his eyes fill with tears once more. And he can’t help but be annoyed at that fact. That all he wants to do is cry around you. He looks up at the overhead light hoping to burn his retinas into submission. That he won’t cry.
Then he feels you touch his good arm. And he doesn’t flinch. But he stills. Not moving at all. As you slowly get closer, coming to stand in between his legs. And your arms go up around his neck. And you hug him.
Leo is frozen. The light above going a bit fuzzy. A second passes. Two. Three. And Leo thaws as you continue to hold him. His own hands going around your sides, pulling you in impossible closer. His chest starting to heave, tears starting to fall, so he squeezes his eyes shuts and buries his snout into the warmth of your neck.
It’s not exactly the same. Your scent is just slightly different from the you in the future. But he can almost imagine it is you from his timeline. That you’re okay. Telling him that all the things he did, tried to do—
“It’s okay Leo,” your hand is soft as it goes up and down the top part of his shell. Maybe you do know. Maybe his eyes did give it all away. And despite his eyes being shut so tightly, tears still manage to leak out.
“Thanks” he croaks into your skin. Allowing himself this one reprieve. Or maybe he just can’t help himself now that you’re here in his arms. He nuzzles his snout into your skin. Just once. His hands tighten around your sides, just once. Before he goes slack and the sound of the kettle is piercing as it squeals. His hands fall away from you, and he leans back in his stool letting you go.
You have tears in your eyes too. Now that he can see your face again. So he gives you a grin, shaking his head. “Like you said, it’s okay.” And he stands, offering you the stool, passing you by to go to the kettle. To finish making your tea.
Leo tells you all his guesses as to what is happening to everyone in the Hidden City. Laughs are shared, and the conversation flows pretty smoothly from then on. April, Dad, and the boys get back not too much later and they regal all of their adventures to you. Every time Leo's guesses are confirmed you can't help but look over at him. A big smile on your face. Tears no more.
That's how you should be, Leo thinks. You should get to be happy in this life. In this timeline. And for the first time ever since he was able to defeat the Kraang. Leo feels hopeful that you will be.

Some of My TMNT Hot Takes (PART 2) 🔥
Warning: More Opinions
Part 1 Here
I don’t like that in Mutant Mayhem Donnie is not a “science guy” but instead is more of an anime and pop culture geek. I’m not against him being an anime fan (I love anime too) but I wish we saw more of his science and being a tech genius side instead of him just liking stereotypical “nerdy stuff”. If that makes sense.
I don’t like the Punk Frogs (any version).
The 87 crossover episodes in the 2012 series (as much as I did enjoy them & are great episodes) should not have happened. They leave no real impact or development to 2012’s overarching story and just waste time. These episodes could’ve covered more important things that 202 was desperately lacking like like character exploration and character dynamic development. It was just nostalgic fanservice. The arc in S5 specifically would’ve work better as a movie instead of a 3-4 episode arc in the (most likely non canon) final season.
Shinigami being Mikey’s second love interests ruins her character a bit (for me personally). That was a pointless decision that did NOT need to happen. She would’ve been our first recurring female character to not be a love interest, but nope!
People are allowed to like/ship Donnie x April in ROTTMNT (this is coming from someone who’s not crazy about April being shipped with the Turtles).
I ship Yuichi with 2012 Leo more than Rise Leo (still ship Rise Leoichi, but I just think 2012 Leoichi is way more interesting, plus 2012 Leo deserves a good love interest).
The humans in Mutant Mayhem look ugly af (I know that was probably an intentional design choice but still. It looks bad.)
I hate Raph x Casey (any ver). I’ve stated in part one that I don’t like Raph (any version) being in a romantic relationship with human characters and yes, that meant him with Casey. Not only that but Raph and Casey being a couple ruins their whole dynamic and iconic friendship I love so much. I’m all for friends to lovers but they are a line that should not be crossed. Not every friendship needs to turn romantic.
2012 Karai’s hair looks bad.
Fans often over exaggerate Rise Donnie’s character and badly mischaracterize him in fanfics and fan comics to the point it makes him feel like he’s an entirely different character.
Shinigami should have been revealed to be a villain.
Rise Donnie was just as mean to his brother as fans claim 2012 Raph was to his. Yes, they both do love their families and I’m NOT saying either of them are abus!ce (they’re not), but fans praising Rise Donnie for doing similar things fans criticize/hate 2012 Raph for doing just makes them hypocrites.
Venus does NOT need to be in every iteration of TMNT. It gets kind of annoying when fans keep on saying that she should be in all the other iterations when in truth her presence would not make sense based on the already established canon story. The only (recent) version of TMNT where I think her being included would’ve fit the best and deserved to make her comeback in is ROTTMNT.
The side plot of 2012 Karai being mutated and later getting brainwashed by Shredder was a waste of time and the most boring arc in the series.
2012 April, Donnie and Casey being in a poly relationship does not fix anything with their problematic dynamic and massive flaws with one another. I'm not saying you can't ship all three of them together, you do you! Idc But in reality their relationship would be a train wreck, that's why I personally don't ship 2012 Capriltello.
Renet is probably one of the most powerful allies the Turtles have in the 2012 series.
Rise Donnie would NOT hate 2012 April. He’d go crazy over her psychic powers and want to study them to help her explore them more.
From what I've seen so far, Leo x Usagi seems like the only GOOD ship in the 2003 series (this hot take might change tho).
Raph had the best character arc and development in the 2012 series and changed the most out of the four brothers. Next would be Leo. With Mikey and Donnie have little development (or none at all sadly).

I'm in love with @ashwii Celestial AU. I wanted to write something poetic and beautiful but instead it turned into silly shenanigans between astronaut April and the Disaster Twins. I hope you get a good chuckle out of it at least.
*****************************
"Wait! Hold on! Rewind! Humans do what?"
April grins and adjusts her grip on the outer hull. She briefly gestures with the screwdriver before plunging it back into the innards of the space station she is going to call her home for the next few years.
No matter how much she'd trained for and anticipated this mission, the idea of spending years alone on a space station to research the effects of long term exposure to low gravity had been as exciting as it had been scary. All that scientific and psychological mumbo jumbo aside, she'd been convinced that 'going space crazy' would be a given and had noted it down in her mission log on the very first day (something Ground Control hadn't found very funny, weirdly enough).
She thought the loneliness might kill her before any asteroid or technical failure could. But now here she is, floating in her super advanced space suit in the vast nothingness of space and talking to a floating humanoid turtle who is also apparently an embodiment of all the stars in all the galaxies and who is named like a renaissance painter even though April had to explain what a renaissance painter even is and…
Maybe she has gone space crazy after all?
Leonardo proves that he is not merely a figment of her imagination by tapping one of his fingers against the face shield of her helmet, an action that had scared the crap out of her the first time he'd done it. Not anymore though. Her new friends won't let anything happen to her.
"Hello? Stars to April!"
"Yes Leo, I heard you." She can hear him loud and clear. She wonders if he can too or if her voice sounds muffled to him through the helmet. "Don't know what to tell you, dude. It's just a silly thing humans do. There are websites where you can buy a star and give it a name and then give it away as a gift."
"A gift?" Leo clutches at his chest like an old lady might clutch at her pearls. He floats backwards a few feet. The trails of his mask flare and tiny stars follow his movement, surrounding him and sparking briefly like small explosions before fading away again.
Oh, how April wishes she could touch them. Would they be cold or hot? Would they pass right through her or settle on her skin like a thousand little fireflies?
They don't know if Leo and his brothers can enter the station without harm to them or the ship and April knows that they are too wary to try. Yet.
Which, yeah. Fair enough. Maybe one day.
"A gift!" he repeats. His voice cracks and he looks genuinely distressed. April would feel bad for him if she wasn't trying so hard not to laugh. "How dare you humans sell pieces of me as a gift!"
"Hey hey, calm down. It's not real. No one can really buy a star. It's just… make believe."
"That's besides the point!"
In that moment Donatello joins them, alerted by his brother's shouting and gesticulating. He's been keeping an eye on the two of them from a distance. The moon turtle is the slowest to warm up to April, although her willingness to show and explain to him the various uses of her NASA approved equipment has gone a long way. April is determined to win the celestial being over with her charm and wit, just like she did with his brothers.
"What's all this racket about?" Don looks and sounds tired. It's a waning moon and his arms are already more black than green, his eyes vaguely distant. The black mass traveling up and down his arms like the insides of a lava lamp should look creepy but it's actually quite mesmerizing. April could watch the dance of darkness and light for hours, but Donnie gets testy when he catches her staring so she refrains. Barely.
"Donnieeeee!" Leo wails and throws his arms around his brother's neck. Immediately the stars on his skin brighten. It's fascinating: The darker Donnie is, the brighter Leo shines. The closer they are to a full moon, the more subdued Leo's glow becomes. Neither state seems to affect the other negatively. Rather, they seem to gravitate towards each other even more frequently during full and new moons.
Donnie smiles softly in the face of his brother's antics and April catches herself thinking that it's probably a good thing both of them don't shine at the same time. That might just blind her.
The moon turtle catches her staring and just like a switch being flipped his smile turns into a scowl and he pushes his brother away.
April smirks. So predictable.
"Nardo! What is it?"
Leonardo waves his arms around. Streaks of light paint waves into the space between them. "April just told me that humans buy stars as gifts!" He shudders and hugs himself. "I feel so violated."
Okay, that is so not fair. Now April feels really bad. And it's got nothing to do with the glare Don sends her.
"Hey man!", she says and gently bumps her fist lightly against Leo's shoulder. It feels just like any other shoulder. Corporal and squishy. She wonders if it would feel different without the glove in the way. "They only do that because stars are beautiful. You buy a star for your loved ones, to show them how important they are to you and because you want to give them something unique and lovely. Gifting someone a star is like, the most wonderful thing you can do on earth, y'know?"
She is mostly talking out of her ass right now. April never got the whole 'gifting a star' business. To her it's mostly a scam, just a very expensive piece of paper. No one owns stars so no one can sell them either. But she does acknowledge that it's a cute idea at least and that lots of people are really digging it.
Leo stares at her with, excuse the pun, stars in his eyes. "Really?" His attitude does a complete 180. He twirls in a circle, throws his glowing mask trails around and blows his brother an exaggerated kiss. "You hear that, Dee? I'm the most wonderful gift, ever. Humans pay lots of money for a piece of me. You all get my company for free, be thankful."
Donatello rolls his eyes. "Oh, joy. Though I  wish I had paid some money. At least then I'd have a receipt and could return you for something cooler."
Leo only laughs good-naturedly, but April mentally rubs her hands like a villain.
She really shouldn't aggravate the guy. She does want him to like her, after all. But Donnie just offered her the perfect opportunity for some light teasing. And she did promise to teach the boys everything she knows about earth and human customs. She's got a duty to fulfill, doesn't she?
Ah, well. They can become best friends later. After all, she'll be around them for many years to come.
"Oh Donnie!" she drawls and floats closer to him. He eyes her with the usual distrust and she smirks in anticipation. "Did I ever tell you about this thing humans do, where they buy land on the moon?"

Title: I don’t like him! (maybe I do)
Jason Grace x Fem!Reader
Synopsis: Daughter of Demeter denies she has feelings for Jason Grace but a certain girl on the Argo II can tell she does
-
“All I’m saying is you like him!” Piper exclaimed. You rolled your eyes and kept walking.
“Pipes we’re on a quest come on,” You whined. You two trudged through the hot Atlanta heat.
“Besides even if I did like him there’s no time for that! The world is ending, there’s angry Roman’s after us and I’m sweating like a dog in this heat!” You waved your hands around.
“Pfft as if half the crew on the Argo aren’t couples already,” She sarcastically replied. You stopped in place and looked around to make sure no one was around.
“Piper what am I supposed to do? Waltz up to him and say hey Jason I think you’re possibly the most kindest person I’ve ever met and you’re the most handsome guy I’ve ever laid eyes on? I don’t know maybe wanna date?” You sighed.
“Yes!” Piper cheered. She walked up and placed a hand on your shoulder. “All I’m saying is we’re on this dangerous quest yes, but I just don’t want you to regret anything. Our lives are always on a line and the love you radiate for him is crazy y/n I can feel it throughout the ship.”
You smiled gently. You knew she meant well and she was right you didn’t want to regret anything.
-
You and Piper returned to the Argo II on the hill. Percy, Frank and Coach were looking for some sea god you couldn’t help but not remember his name. Annabeth sat in her dorm studying the mark of Athena. Hazel and Leo were in the engine room. And Jason paced around the deck keeping watch. Piper walked ahead turned and winked at you before proceeding below deck.
Jason looked incredibly handsome as usual. His hair was starting to grow shaggy and longer. He looked radiant under the sun. He made your heart beat a thousand times per minute. Your breath would catch whenever you would glance at him.
“Hey Y/N! How did scoping the city go?” Jason’s voice snapped you out admiring him. You blushed slightly and walked closer to him.
“It was fine way too hot for my liking.” You chided.
“And how are you feeling?” He asked concerned. His blue eyes stared into your green eyes. Focus you thought. But gods he was beautiful.
“What do you mean?” You asked.
“I mean with you being a daughter of Demeter. With angry earth goddess waking do you feel ok? I can only imagine it’s affecting you in ways the rest of us can’t understand.” He placed a hand on your shoulder and your breathing hitched. He was so concerned for you.
You nervously turned away and scratched your arms, “Honestly my powers have weakened. It’s like I have less control of my nature abilities. It’s kinda scary… her influence on me. I don’t ever wanna lose control.”
Jason grabbed your shoulder and turned you back towards him, “You won’t ever lose control cause you have us, your friends, we’re family now we won’t let you.”
You gulped. Your heart felt as tho it can explode any second now. His eye brows crunched as he stared at you with concern. “Jason I really really like you and I just need you to know!”
Jason’s blue eyes widened in disbelief, “you you huh!?”
Your heart dropped. Idiot! You thought to yourself why would you just admit to him right here and now.
You waved your hands in a stop motion, “Uh ignore that I didn’t mean like like you. I mean like I think you’re a great person and the best-”
A strong hand wrapped around your waist. The other hand cupped your face gently. Before you can even process you were inches away from Jason’s face.
“I’m so happy you feel the same way,” He murmured. Jason leaned in and brushed his lips softly against yours. You shivered against his touched and closed the distance between you. His lips were soft. His hands that gripped you were strong but gentle.
A daughter of the earth kissing a son of the sky. It didn’t make sense. But it just felt right. His thumb brushed under your eye. Every touch was electric to you.
“Woo hoo!!!” You jumped at the sudden loud voice. You glared behind Jason as Piper stood at the steps of the Argo clapping. She gave a bright thumbs up.
“Pipes come on!” You groaned.
“I knew you two liked each other! Just needed a push. Anyways I’ll leave you two love birds alone!” She went back down the steps and Jason giggled.
“And a push she gave,” You laughed.
Jason smiled and his eyes danced around your face. He would flicker to your lips often, “I’m so happy you said something. I would’ve been too afraid to mess this up. But after this war is over Would you go on a date with me?”
Your mouth stretched into the biggest smile. “Absolutely.”
Jason grabbed you by the waist again and pulled you in. Your lips were magnetic to his. This felt just right and all perfect.

Happy Monday all :) Just realized we are over halfway done with s4. Crazy ha Naturally after an intense Chenford ep we have the next one be little lighter. Sadly they are missing 90 percent of this episode so it'll be a shorter one. But there is good moments of growth and such. Let’s get going.
4x13 Fight or Flight
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lucy is attached to Nolan’s helicopter kid situation. Which robs us of any Chenford in this episode. Thanks a lot Nolan…I could tell that kid was suspect af in the elevator and I’m not even a cop. John asks for Lucy to ride with him so he can get into this kids mind. It is awesome she is sought after for her psychological experience. We all know Nolan isn’t going to be able to do that…
We get a little crumb at the beginning of the episode. Tim was clearly waiting for her. I love how he instantly supports her. Doesn’t question why she’s helping or upset she is doing that instead of them riding together. Only that if she needs anything he is there for her. Little moments make my heart happy. So I shall take them in lighter eps.
Tumblr media
We do get some good Tim and Angela moments which I will always be happy to enjoy. Tim runs into her and she tells him she has an old ‘friend’ of his in for questioning. He was pulled over and had a diamond bracelet in his car. It’s tied him to a home invasion that left 3 people dead. I do love getting a look into Tim’s work past and former arrests. Which ones are hang ups for him and such. She asks him if he’d like in on the interrogation?
Tim of course jumps right on it. Once he’s in the box Dez is deny deny deny about the bracelet. Saying he got it for his mother and lost the receipt. Ok buddy... Noting he was working the night the home invasion occurred. That his boss would confirm that for him. Watching Tim take charge in the interrogation is *fans self* Not to mention the bicep and forearm shots in this. Killing me softly sir.
Besides him looking fine af just sitting there I always enjoy watching him take charge in any capacity. .i.e. this moment. Why I love Metro Tim so much. It's sexy the way he walks over and commands his attention. Tries to connect with this guy. Knowing they have a past trying to use it to their advantage. Also him using words like recidivism getting me all hot and bothered. Idk why it just is LOL Anyways lets get back on track....Tim tells Dez he knows he wouldn’t have killed anyone. But they need his help to catch the people who did harm that family. They just need a name. He gives them the name of his lawyer instead. Wah wah
Tumblr media
Seeing Lucy with Nolan it’s hard to believe they were ever matched up. Boggles the mind really. Just in how they’re approaching this situation alone. Lucy gets an ID for this kid from dispatch. His name is Leo Thomas. He's just a teenager. Nolan mentioning well adjusted kid’s don’t steal police helicopters. Lucy going on to say could just be teenager attention-seeking behavior. Trying to standout and establish their identity.
How it’s gotten so much worse with social media. She isn't wrong. I can only imagine. Its way more than when I was a teenager. Not to date myself but I only had myspace and facebook for most part and I didn't even use FB till like 2008 honestly. Oh and instagram. I think lol My point is as a millennial we didn't have the amount of platforms that are around now. It's insane. I can't imagine trying to establish an identity on them.
So Lucy saying social media having an impact on behavior is accurate. I believe that. It’s funny how John asked for Lucy to tag along and to get in the kids head. Then when she does he fights her on it a little. *eye roll* Also why am I not surprised he was a boring teenager? LMAO This doesn’t shock Lucy either. Him questioning her being a rebel. With the parents she had growing up? I have no doubt she was. You don’t know her like that John and it shows…
Tumblr media
Nolan tries to connect with Leo now that he knows his name. John doing a big swing and a miss with him right off the bat. Trying to connect over now his family is sick with worry. Goes over like a lead ballon. He gets back on track with him though. Asking about learning to fly through video games? How impressive that is. Nolan starts to get some traction with the video game bonding. Leo begins to open up saying usually in a game how the main character survives through allies.
He asks John if he’s an ally? Lucy nodding her head fervently. Unreal how he needed to turn to Lucy for that answer. Do love her directing this whole thing though. What a downgrade from Tim eh Lucy? heh. Leo tells them they need to go on some quests first. Then they can talk about him landing this helicopter. John is skeptical to say the least.
Tumblr media
Its why Nolan keeps biffing it with this kid. Honestly it’s a wonder he got put on this kid at all. Good thing Lucy is there to steer the ship. I love love love her being the leader on this. Look at our bad ass. Questioning his decision making skills and backing it with rock solid logic. Also sound psychology. You know the whole reason he brought her in the first place......
Nolan may have a good connection with people but he doesn’t have the logic and emotional intelligence Lucy does. John is ready to throw in the towel but Lucy isn’t. She crushes it with some damn good logic. Explaining why he should give into this kid and what he wants. It’s like he completely forgotten why he was assigned this kid in the first place. To build rapport and get him down on the ground. Good thing Lucy is there or this would be going so much worse.
Tumblr media
He sends them on their first quest. To what looks like drug den. Saying he lost a raven haired girl he used to like from there from an OD. He couldn't save her but they can at least take down the monsters who caused her death. We find shortly after that was a lie. Since he has been home schooled for the last year. Nolan tries to get him to come down after one quest. Of course he doesn’t. It’s like John hasn’t caught on to the game here lol They ask for their next quest and he asks if they like alligators? HA
Tumblr media
We return to Tim back at the station. He’s called in Dez’s boss to verify his ‘alibi’. At first he’s corroborating it until Tim says he’s suspected of triple murder. Tim dismantling Dez's alibi within minutes of meeting this man. I love it so much. His boss immediately amends his statement and says he paid him off. To clock him in and let him go and he did the same thing for tonight as well. Tim reports this back to Angela ASAP. That they don’t have time to wait for his lawyer. They have something far more pressing. Another target to locate. If they don’t figure out where that is more bodies are going to drop.
Tumblr media
Lucy and Nolan are on their second quest. This part cracks me up. Dude they’re arresting is defending his alligator. Saying Cupcake is a sweetheart. Lucy’s reply cracks me up ‘Cupcake ate my taser’ LMFAO. His attachment to this creature is intense to say the least. The good thing about this second quest is there is a pattern though. Both quests have involved big drug arrests. Nolan tries to press the kid for it and nada. He continues on to tell them they’re going to have their final quest soon enough.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tim shows up at Dez’s house mid-search. He instantly goes into sexy Sergeant mode. Asking Webb what they’re found so far? It would appear nothing at the moment. So Tim takes over the scene. I love watching him in action. So confident and sure of himself. While teaching in the process. Yum Yum. Sexy teacher Tim is in the house.
Just takes control of this search and makes it more efficient. He's so good at his job. Also he is growing as a Sergeant. Took control without fully taking control and doing it himself. He delegated his team to re-work their search pattern. Look at him go. So proud of him. Growing as a leader makes my heart happy to see.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We circle back to helicopter kid. They are slowly putting the pieces of the puzzle together. The guy they just arrested works with his mom’s BF. He's a known associate of his. It would appear they have a drug distribution chain going on. That one of the dealers they sell to was arrested and had to do with quest number one.
Lucy jumps in with her POV. This is why Nolan brought her along. Love watching her flex her psych brain. That muscle innate in her as she analyzes this situation. We finally find out why Leo took the helicopter. That quest #3 is to save his mother from her drug dealer BF. The problem is they don’t have any evidence linking this guy to what they’ve found today and he only has 40 minutes of fuel left…
Tumblr media
We jump back to the house with Tim and his team. They still haven’t found anything linking Dez to the 2-11. Tim has an epiphany and calls in a bomb sniffing dog. Explaining that they look for ingredients for a bomb or gunpowder from an illegal firearm. That's what they need to implicate Dez. I will also take Tim Bradford talking to a dog all day long. Ovary explosion for me. *fans self* The way he roasts this dog for getting distracted by a squirrel LOL I’m dying I love this man so very much.
Thor eventually finds exactly what they’re looking for. Pawing at a spot Tim is able to crack open and find the evidence they need. Look at him listening to all past advice Grey gave. Not showing up to a scene early. When he does he delegates and doesn’t take over completely. While still teaching in the process of that delegating. He would be proud. Lucy too if she could see this.
Tumblr media
Grey is able to get Murray to flip on Brian. Using cupcake Lmao it’s hilarious. Wants to make sure she’s taken care since she ate Lucy's taser. So he rolls on his partners including Brian. All for his alligator's well being it's too damn funny. Grey is delighted that’s all it took. Nolan and Lucy are able to complete quest number 3. They have him fly over his house so he can see them arresting Bryan. Telling him it is finally time to land that helicopter. He agrees and says he’s been air sick for hours ha They arrest him once he’s landed. Lucy looks so sad about it but they really don’t have a choice in the matter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tim returns to Angela with the evidence they needs against Dez. He flips once Tim has hard evidence against him. Gives them every job, every crew member and what they’re going to hit tonight. They catch up to the getaway driver fairly easily. It is fun to watch this bad ass duo work together. Question him easily about the men inside and what they’re walking into. Tells them three men are inside the house not including himself.
They find out 2 of the 3 are upstairs looting. While the third is hovering over the family with a gun. Angela doesn’t want to go in hot with this third guy. Worried he’ll hurt the family in retaliation. Tim tells her then they go in a different way. A way I very much approve of. Why you ask? We get Tim Bradford in a TIGHT white t-shirt. Pretending to be a delivery guy. Mmmm just look how taut that shirt is across his muscled chest.
Sweet baby James this man is fit. Could wash clothes on those washboard abs of his. Don’t get me started on the gun show that is his biceps. Popping out of those sleeves. We also get some nice forearm action as well in these shots. Nothing for me to analyze except his beautiful form in these gifs. Imma need some ice water. This man does things to me. *ahem* Let's get back to the story at hand...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tim knocks on the door. Angela has the getaway drivers phone. So she texts the gun happy third guy it’s just food delivery. This gets him close to the door where they want him. Once he’s close enough they push through a flash bang grenade. Taking him out pretty quickly. Then we get to watch some poetry in motion.
Tim and Angela moving like badasses to secure the house. Just a couple besties taking down criminals like it’s nothing. These are some great shots of these two. I would like more Angela/Tim shots in s6. Just add that to my s6 wishlist haha Metro and the detectives working together be fun to watch. If I can’t have Chenford I’ll take Tim/Angela moments.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We started with a crumb and we get to end with a crumb. I love Tim being the one to initiate a drink after work. He’s grown so very much makes me wanna cry. We all know it’s because of his relationship with Lucy. Our hardened grumpy Tim while still grumpy has grown a lot. Look at him not only doing post work hang but making jokes. Saying it’s all on Nolan ha! Such a nice moment. Until Grey comes over and says Cupcake broke free from animal control LOL Angela's reply is the best 'Who's Cupcake?' So very confused haha
Not a lot of Chenford but good moments and growth none the less. Next episode will be a good one for them.
~~~
Side notes- non chenford
Well this entire episode was that haha I did enjoy Harper’s SL with Aaron and him trying to get that man justice. His reason why behind it and all as well. He develops very nicely as a character. I do love having him around a lot.
lab rats 🤝 chappell roan
inspired by @imasimpcentral
this is going off 97% vibes at 3% character analysis (i love chappell but there's def a 60/40 chance that some of these takes are not good interpretations)
femininomenon: tasha and bree fs
"stuck in the suburbs, you're folding his laundry" omg tasha my girl you deserved so much better than the man child billionare
if the boys kept up with playing instruments, bree def would've got them to learn this song
red wine supernova: literally everyone this song is so addicting
after midnight: also addicting and i want to say everyone but donald bc he doesn’t deserve it
I imagine chase playing this to hype himself up when he has plans to go out
coffee: omg adam, bree, and chase without question
"nowhere else is safe, every place leads back to your place" I know it's alluding to the couple ending up together but in the context of lab rats, abc can never get away from davenport and the bionic life. they never even get the chance to consider something
"you'll say that your sorry, I know it's a lie"
"if i didn't love you, it would be fine" omg this post by @texanmarcusdavenport
casual: Bree, Leo, Chase, and Douglas
basically anyone who struggled with relationships in the show tbh
someone would catch douglas singing the song and join him like that scene from friends
super graphic ultra modern girl: bree has this on repeat
adam brings just enough girly pop energy
leo too
one day tasha walks in on the kids dancing to it and joins in
chase walks in and slowly joins in like that scene from abott elementary
tumblr won't let me post another video so i made an extra post for the video
HOT TO GO!: obviously this goes to our two cheerleaders, adam and bree
davenport would be the person who tries to changed the dance routine
tasha would try to add to it or build a routine for the rest of the song bc she likes to be invovled
omg tasha would make them cheer outfits just so they could wear them for these songs
My Kink Is Karma: both davenport brothers tbh (mainly Douglas)
i didn't want to give donald one but if we ever saw him actually process the fact that his brother faked his death just to come back to attack his family and then get a parner and be more evil, this would be his song
douglas listens to this after leaving his partnership with krane
omg wait he would think about giselle too
Picture You: all of the siblings
"do you picture me like I picture you" -> am i the child you wanted? are you the dad I wanted?
are you the dad I deserve?
this is def me just interpreting this one line
Kaleidoscope: tasha, bree, chase, leo, and adam
tasha deserved to be treated better and fully acknowledged
bree, chase, and leo all had those messy coming-of-age relationships
adam doesn't relate to this song in the sense of romantic love bc he didn't have relationships (and i fully support the aroarce!Adam head cannon)
this still applies to the familial love and relationship with davenport
Pink Pony Club: @imasimpcentral put it best here but this is all the siblings
they're literally trapped in mission creek/bionic island
they can never leave the bionic life
they were all trying to prove themselves
leo the most during the bionic island season honestly
Naked In Manhattan: this song is so first relationship so all of the kids
bree basically modeled her life after high school movies after she was allowed out of the lab so this song is like nostalgia for her
adam vibes with the song but again he's aroace in my mind
i feel like chase would blush like crazy when he actually listens to the lyrics
i don't have a clear mindset with leo but i like to think that he vibes with chappell
California: all siblings – adam, bree, chase, and leo OH MY GOD MARCUS
specifically in the bionic rebellion for abc
they were thrown into the world of mentoring and then their top students rebelled
i think by that season they stopped caring about davenport but i feel like a small part of them has a lingering feeling of failure
when it comes to leo i just think about every time he tried to do something alone
"i'd make you proud. to think I almost had it going, but I let you down."
marcus literally did everything douglas asked him to and then came back to essentially complete his mission
and when he came back, he was working to make giselle proud just a bit
Guilty Pleasure: bree and chase
bree ached for normal life the most of all the siblings
she also fell for the bad guy
chase wanted friends so badly he could resonate with this song
Tales of the TMNT Leo & Raph word count: 2k (aka: Raph does NOT get into a fight - the fic)
AO3
---
“You ran into a pole?”
“It was a basketball hoop,” Raph clarifies.
It probably doesn't make him look much better now that he thinks about it.
He shifts on the cot, the paper under him crinkling slightly. He winces at the sound. There's still a drumming headache, pulsing right behind his eyes, and a slight ring in his ears.
Mrs. O'Neil tilts her head, her tongue making a 'tsks' sound that reminds Raph of April in an almost unsettling way.
“Right.”
She has a right to be harsh, he supposes, after all the times he was sent right to her doorstep with a bloody face and bruised knuckles. Although, maybe she holds more of a grudge for all the people he sends her way.
Even if it's unfair.
Raph doesn't start fights. He doesn't.
Or at least – he doesn't when they're not Purple Dragons, or killer robots, or crazy mutants with an agenda, or any other thing that's trying to kill them at any given moment.
But he doesn't take shit from people either, which was a harsh and a very hands-on lesson some of his classmates had to learn. Not that any of his teachers ever appreciated his bright future in education.
Raph doesn't start fights. He finishes them.
But it's been a while since he got into a proper one – not since the principle snapped and dangled a suspension right above his head.
Or that's the reason he tells his brothers anyway.
“The teacher was right there,” he murmurs, a little defeated.
“So you just ran into a pole? And you're sure you don't need any glasses?” Mrs. O'Neil asks him again, eyebrow raised.
“I got distracted,” Raph says, face suddenly hot.
It's stupid, because he's not even lying about it. It's a half-truth at worst.
He did get distracted, and Mrs. O'Neil doesn't need to know that he was busy looking at a girl.
He's sure she's heard worse, but he grew up with three brothers and if there's one thing it taught him, it's that some secrets are better kept in his own head, and that 'safe spaces' are a very relative term.
And he would know – he's the one who never let Mikey forget about any of his cartoon-character crushes.
“If you say so.”
Raph bites down on his own words, swallowing down something bitter and petty.
She leaves him for a moment, rummaging through the cabinets in the other, bigger part of the office.
Raph pulls away the tissue he was holding up to his snout. His nose has mostly stopped bleeding, but there's still some leftover blood stuck under his fingernails. He picks at it, absentmindedly.
He takes the moment to fiddle with his pockets, fishing out his phone – now adorned with one more crack running down the display.
His fingers hover over their family group chat (the one without Dad and a lot of messages that would likely give him a heart attack), and his mind races for a way to phrase his current situation in a way that will result in the least amount of subsequent ridicule.
He mulls the words over in his head, like tough gum, till his whole mind feels sticky and tacky.
>>Got hurt in PE. Will prolly go home. At nurses rn
His fingers barely leave the display before his phone buzzes, lighting up with a new, private message. He's almost certain Donnie should be in class right now, but his brother's phone has been glued to the inside of his wrist since they were ten.
<<You got into a fight?
Raph's mouth thins, and he lets his phone go dark, staring back at his own, cracked reflection on the black screen. His fingers tighten, so hard that he feels a prickle of a glass shard in one of his fingers.
He blinks a few times, feelings his own stomach churn, and he realizes with a momentary delay that it's one of those moments, moments he keeps drilling over with the school counselor.
The counselor's office is one of the places Raph regularly visits nowadays. Or rather – gets trapped in twice a week after one trip to the principal’s office too many.
Personally, Raph thinks that Mr. Honeycutt is a proper dunce (he asked him to call him by his first name on their first meeting, which Raph still refuses to do, just to be a little more annoying). Too eager, bright-eyed and in love with his job for his liking.
He says a lot of things like 'radical' and 'groovy', which always make Raph snicker with cringe.
He also says things like 'anger issues' and 'trauma', which make Raph dig his nails into the chair and say things that would make any other adult gasp in sheer outrage, and then cry in the parking lot behind the school, where it stinks of old cigarettes and weed.
(It only makes Mr. Honeycutt write faster in his notepad.)
But some of the advice he gives isn't half as bad as his other stuff.
(Some of it makes him want to finish fights a little less.)
He takes a deep breath, letting his mind split in half, all of his thoughts spilling out into a mess of a pile.
Picking it apart is the hard part. He's not like Donnie, who works with the left side of his brain only, or Leo, who gets so easily tangled up within his own mind. Nor Mikey, who rarely seems to have any thoughts at all.
He unlocks his phone, rereading Donnie's text.
In the time he wasn't looking, his brother managed to follow it up with a swarm of emojis and question marks, and question mark emojis.
It's one thing, he realizes, for strangers, his classmates, or even Mrs. O'Neil to assume these things about him. Expected, even. To them, it never mattered why or how, just that he did.
It's another thing for it to be one of his brothers.
He knows Donnie had the right to assume. Maybe he'd do the same in his place, even. And he can appreciate that he texted him outside of the chat; that made it feel more like a question and less like a confrontation.
But there's something hurt inside his chest now, something that stings like a bitch and sounds suspiciously like: 'you can shape yourself however you want, but this outline will always be here'.
His fingers hover over the keyboard, searching for the right words to encompass the messy tangle of his thoughts, the 'you didn't really do anything wrong, but I'm still angry with you', the things he wishes were different.
He types out:
>>Go suck a dick.
Mrs. O'Neil shows up again, holding out an ice pack, and Raph quickly locks his phone. Not that she would try to ready any of it, at least judging by the thickness of her glasses.
“Hold that to your face,” she says. Raph takes it from her hand, sighing when the ice cools his stiff face. “I'll keep you in here for a few more minutes, just to be safe. You can go home then, I don't want you walking around the school looking like this.”
“Oh, wow, thanks,” he huffs, maybe a little too blunt.
Mrs. O'Neil nods, but doesn't get the chance to say anything more.
They both flinch when the door slams open, hitting the wall with a force that suddenly makes Raph realize why the wall paint around that part always seems to be chipping away.
“Oh, for goodness’ sake!” Mrs. O'Neil straightens, her face suddenly tight and cold. “Were all of you raised in a barn?”
She always had that sort of clipped, no-nonsense energy about her.
April liked to complain about the trials and horrors of attending the same school her mother worked at. But she was always alright in Raph's book – especially since she let Leo and Donnie come into the office whenever they needed a quiet moment.
Mrs. O'Neil has a soft spot for his brothers, and as far as Raph is concerned, that was all she needed to earn his begrudging respect.
So now, when it's Leo's flushed face that peeks from around the corner, both her and Raph soften, just a little.
“I'm sorry,” Leo says, all frantic energy, but he's not looking at her. “Raph, are you okay?”
He's at his side in a second, his hands on Raph's shoulders, eyes scanning his face.
Raph blinks.
“Aren't you supposed to be in a class?” He asks.
He knows he should be, and he knows that Leo doesn't pull out his phone during lessons, because he's the least fun person Raph has ever met.
His brother meets his gaze, and he hesitates for a moment, like it takes a bit for his mind to fully take it all in, and Raph already knows what this is.
Leo's hands on his arms are shaky, his eyes unfocused, and his knee twitches, like he's always just a strain away from bolting.
“I was just checking the time,” he says, and his voice cracks. “Man, you know I can't read those big clocks.”
“... You can't?”
Leo doesn't answer. He puts his palms against Raph's cheek; his skin cold to the touch.
Mrs. O'Neil looks at Raph.
Raph looks at her.
“Leo, dear, why don't you sit down?” She says, rather softly, pointing to the chair propped up against the wall.
Leo looks in its direction, but to Raph's relief, doesn't follow. Instead, he plops down on the cot, right next to his brother, with a quiet sigh. Raph puts down his ice pack.
“Is it me or is it hot in here?” He laughs, a nervous and high-pitched thing.
Mrs. O'Neil's mouth thins, but she nods to Raph, leaving them alone in the little sideroom.
The privacy is only relative – he doesn't even think the door would close if he wanted it to, judging by the layer of rust creeping up on its hinges. But it does make Raph feel a bit better.
Leo fidgets with his hands, twisting his own fingers.
“What happened?” He finally asks, not looking up.
“Nothing. Just an accident,” Raph says. Then: “You thought I got into a fight again, didn't you? That's why you're all shaky.”
Leo watches him for a moment.
There's some anger simmering slowly in Raph's chest, something heavy and hot. But Leo's eyes are big and blue, like a deer in the headlights, and Raph rarely finds the strength to not hit the brakes.
“Well.” Leo drums his fingers against his thighs. “A little. But you know I worry.”
He does, too much for his own good.
Raph huffs.
“And you know I don't do that shit anymore,” he says.
And there might be something a little too honest, a little too open, leaking into his words, because Leo's face melts into something softer, and he leans to bump his arm against Raph's.
“Well, I think it's like...”
He quiets for a moment.
He's breathing a little slower now, but still leans his back against the wall, sighing.
“You know, last month when I opened the kitchen cabinet, a can fell out and hit me over the head.”
Raph snorts despite himself.
“That's why you were wearing your mask like that?” He asks.
Leo shrugs, a little sheepish.
The bell rings outside, the muffled rush of a lunch break slipping into the office, but Mrs. O'Neil leaves them to it.
“Well, now when I open it, I do it slower, just in case.” He shifts a little to look at Raph again. “Like, it's not the can's fault, but I can still kind of feel the bruise. So I just gotta make sure. For me.”
Raph stands suddenly: to stretch his bruised knee, and to quiet the weird humming inside his chest that sounds suspiciously like understanding.
“Well,” he says, mimicking Leo's tone. “I'm not a fucking can.”
“Sure you're not,” Leo answers without hesitation. He can't reach Raph with his hands, but he straightens his leg to tap the back of his thigh. “But I'd still love you if you were.”
Raph flexes his hands.
He's always quick to act, quick to judge, but quick to forgive – at least when it comes to his brothers. And he supposes he can't blame them for watching the lines he's crossed over and over again a little more carefully. Not yet, at least.
They can have a fight about it in a few months. He'd like that. Fighting for things is how he cares.
For now, he only watches as Leo moves on the cot, practically lying down on it, his hands a little less shifty now.
He reaches for the ice pack, tossing it to his brother. Leo sends him a grateful smile, placing the cool ice under his chin.
“I ran into a basketball hoop,” Raph says, suddenly, because he needs to say something. “That's what happened.”
Leo's face lights up with something like bewilderment and amusement, but before he has a chance to say anything, the door to the office slams open.
“Oh, for-”
Raph can hear a chair scraping against the floor, which probably means Mrs. O'Neil is ready to kick all of them out of her office, and he can't even really blame her for it.
Donnie and Mikey don't even have the courtesy to look apologetic.
“Yo, you look like you tried to make out with a wall,” is the first thing Mikey tells him, his voice light and on the verge of a laugh.
Donnie squints, his eyes shifting from Raph to Leo, still laid out on the cot.
He crosses his arm over his chest, elbow resting in his palm when he points at Raph.
“Aren't you supposed to be the injured one?”
Raph looks at Leo. Their eyes meet, and the corner of Raph's mouth twitches into something like a smile.
He should probably tell Mr. Honeycutt about this. Maybe. He'll get around to it.
For now he reaches out to help Leo sit up, and holds his hand just a little longer than necessary, giving it a light squeeze.
Some of the things Mr. Honeycutt says make Raph want to finish fights a little less.
Some of the things Leo says sound like a promise.
Amarilys felt gross after what happened that day; she didn't want to, she thought maybe it would be okay if Liam said so, but it wasn't.
Ray had screamed, and cried, and, and..., and she didn't stop.
Until Star told her it had been enough, and gently took her aside, that's when she finally got a chance to take a breath and look down at what she had just done.
At that moment Liam praised her, and told her she did a good job, and for a moment she believed him. But then Ray's whimpers started again, and she couldn't think straight about what she did.
She pretended to feel cold and got to be taken inside, Leo made her some hot cocoa and put his favorite movie on the TV, and it had been comfortable. Until she remembers Liam and Star were left alone to deal with Ray how they pleased.
Amy shakes her head, that wasn't the time to think about those things. Master told her to do the laundry, he said it was a good chance to use her hands more, since they didn't stop shaking.
She kept to herself that it was because she was still scared of what happened that day.
Master said she had to fold her clothes, and then put them away. If she did it well, she could earn an extra cookie for dinner.
It was hard getting used to being praised for anything she did right, instead of being punished when she got it wrong.
"Where is Star?" Amy had been looking for them since the morning, she wanted to talk about what happened, and maybe ask for some blush so Master didn't notice her pale face, but she couldn't find them anywhere.
"Master took them outside." This time Leo didn't elaborate, which made Amy nervous.
"Is... Did he found out what happened with Ray or...?"
"Oh, no, no; it's nothing like that." Still, Leo's smile didn't meet his eyes. That was... worrying.
"Then why?"
Leo swallowed before leaning towards her, his lips almost touching her ear as he whispered.
"They say I'm just too dumb to understand, but I think Master wants us to think we are humans. Liam says it's just a test to prove our loyalty and love for him, but he's just really weird and-"
A loud slap startled Amy, making her take a step away from Leo. Liam was standing behind him, a thick book on hand, the one that he used to hit Leo.
"That's why you don't think. That's not your job." Leo whimpered, but was quickly shut up by another slap with the book Liam was holding. "Stop it. Master doesn't need to be bothered by you. Why don't you go and watch Tv or something? That sounds more like something you would do, instead of trying out thinking."
Leo nodded, his cheek turning red by the slap; and ran away.
Amy looked up at Liam, her lip quivering. What if Liam hit her too? What if he got angry because she asked? What if...?
"Oh, dear. Did he scare you?" She couldn't help but flinch away when Liam stretches out his hand to stroke her hair, wanting to avoid the worst of the slap, but there was no pain. "Don't mind Leo, I know you are smart enough to understand. Master... Master just wants to test our devotion towards him. You will be good and don't forget your place, am I right?"
"Y-yes. I won't." Amy tried to keep her voice steady, suddenly the guilt she felt vanished in the air, being replaced by a chill that ran down her spine. "Leo is... He likes to come up with some crazy stories. Master would never want us to be humans. He's kind, he would never do something like that."
Why would Master want them to be humans? So he wouldn't have to take care of them anymore? So they can come back to the streets? To starve and freeze to death?
That would be cruel. Master wouldn't want her to go back to the streets, would he? He wouldn't throw it she away. She could be better, she could, if Master only allowed her to-
"Shhh... It's okay. I know." A weird smile crept into Liam's face, something like..., pride? "Leo doesn't understand. Not even Star does. I thought you would be like them. But you are different."
Amy felt his hand slipping down to her shoulders. This was the second time she got a hug from Liam, and it felt so warm.
"Master won't throw us away. I promise. We just have to behave, no matter what he does, and prove to him we are good Pets for him."
"Is that even possible? If he choses to-"
"That won't happen." Amy wondered why Liam sounded so convinced, but didn't ask either. All that matters is that she will be loved. "We can work together. We can make them perfect for Master."
And Amy believes in him. That was what they were born to, to serve a master and be perfect for them.
Amy believes in Liam. They would make Master happy to have them.
Even if that was a little complicated.
title still pending, wip, chapter 2
When you think of Travis Stoll, what comes to mind? Powerful? Intelligent? A protagonist? More like weak, a bit on the air-headed side, and a minor character at best. So why is he being chased by a crazy man with a foot long butcher knife?
Percy hisses as Annabeth shoves his arm back into its socket without so much as a warning. A heads up would have been nice but this probably for the best. The blindingly white-hot pain only last for a minute before simmering down into a dull ache. He rolls his shoulder experimentally and flexes his hand, making sure all function is there.
It could be worse though. He could have a knife in his back. The way Travis was holding on to that knife? For one scary moment, he thought Travis was really going to do it.
Thankfully Clarisse saved his butt. Not so fortunately, she got stabbed in his stead. .
Will manages to squash Clarisse’s bleeding knee and the ambrosia she’s angrily munching on heals any damage Travis did ripping his knife out sideways.
Leo is nursing his bitten hand.
Piper is rubbing her kicked shin.
And Chris is… well, Chris is taking care of his headbutted region.
“It took six of us,” Leo starts, “To pin him down and we weren’t even successful. Are we really this weak? I mean. It’s just one man. And it’s Travis of all people. I beat him really easily in that sparring match a couple months ago. Me. Out of all people too.”
Travis is asleep, thanks to Mr. D (who, by the way, is getting chewed out by Chiron. Something about ‘you can’t make them pass out everytime they cause trouble’ though if Percy were to be honest, Mr. D made the right call.)
Percy swallows as he takes in Travis’s outfit.
It looks like something Nico would love to wear with the black leather gloves and black turtleneck and black sweatpants. It looks unbearably hot in this June heat. Definitely not Travis’s style either. Though to be fair, Percy has never seen Travis without the orange camp shirt and khakis.
A hand slips into his and a nectar bottle is pressed into his other.
 “You okay, seaweed brain?” Annabeth asks, “What happened? Why did he attack you?”
“I don’t know. I saw him in the forest just standing there. I tried to get his attention but he wasn’t answering me so I touched his shoulders then out of nowhere, he’s trying to kill me.”
Percy tries not to recall the unbidden anger in those eyes. Travis is … surprisingly terrifying when he’s angry.
*** Fix bottom scenes/add something/maybe delete
Problem for future me ***
Jason is rolling Travis onto his back. He’s handcuffing his hands together. When the first cuff locks on, Travis’s hand twitches.
His hand twitches.
“Jason, get —”
Travis’s eyes fly open and they zero in on Jason. Fear grips Percy’s heart. He’s too far. He can’t get there fast enough. Jason is going to —
A blink and Percy would have missed Travis taking down Jason with a scissor leg maneuver. Another blink and he would have missed Travis shoving pulling a small knife from his plumber’s belt.
Percy’s not the best at archery but maybe if he threw Riptide while it’s a pen, that’ll draw Travis’s attention. Maybe if he—
But Travis isn’t standing above Jason anymore. He’s running towards him with remarkable speed. Annabeth curses and steps in front of him with her weapon out.
He tries to shove her back, but Annabeth fights him on it. And okay fine. They’ll fight Travis together. But he doesn’t want to. He really doesn’t want to. Travis is his friend even if the guy did just attack him out of nowhere.
But Travis runs past them, actually using Annabeth’s first swipe as a bouncepad to launch himself up and over the two of them. Percy readies to guard Annabeth’s back, but Travis moves past them, jabbing a knife into Mr. D's eyes while simultaneously thrusting a full gladius sword into Chiron’s stomach and ripping it sideways like he did with Clarisse’s knees.
It all happened so fast.
Travis shoves the knife in the eye. Travis pulls the hair back to expose the neck. Travis kicks the back of the knees to bring Mr. D to his knees. And Travis pulls out a new, much longer and broader knife with a golden tinge, places it against Mr. D’s jugular and very cleanly swipes across.
And just like that, one decapitated god in five seconds.
Percy’s going to be sick.
Someone is already retching behind him.
It makes Travis’s head perk up and there’s none of that crazy, unbidden anger Percy sees earlier back in the forest. They’re surprisingly free of emotion. Calm and focused. Confusion. Relieved. Surprise. If… if… Percy pushes it actually, he could say he’s seeing happiness in those gaze.
That is until they met him and his calm went to panic.
“I can explain,” Travis says with a hand out like he meant no harm.
“Sleep!” Piper screams behind them.
Travis stumbles, but right himself.
“Go to sleep!” Piper yells again, desperation tinged in her voice.
And Travis is down entirely, head bonking the banister.
I have two zodiac-based questions (but not horoscope explanations like you've been doing), the first is dependent on whether or not you've watched Fairy Tail. (I'll send a separate ask)
The second: if you were to assign ONE anime character to best exemplify the different zodiac signs, who would you pick? (Can be from any anime of your choice, and they don't all have to be from the same anime, but you can only pick ONE).
Alternatively you could pick two, but they have to be based on the month divide (social media tells me there's a different between June and July Cancers (and obviously the others, but we're in Cancer season lol)?).
Feel free to answer in your own time, or completely ignore it.
ALRIGHT! this has been such a fun task to complete and I cannot thank you enough for asking me such a thoughtful question. I really have pondered on this for days just to be certain I have it as right as I want it to be.
Aries: Akitaru Obi - Fire Force
reason: embodies most of the natural traits of Aries as a sign. motivated, hard working, friend and family oriented. willing to put in the work to get done what he needs to get done. he trains every day for this!
Taurus: Gon Freecss - HxH
reason: aside from being boy of All Time, Gon to me embodies everything a Taurean is at their best. loyal, digging their heels in when it matters the most, giving it all but also understanding the joy in laying on your back and watching the clouds roll by.
Gemini: Itachi Uchiha - Naruto
reason: literally the most stereotypical Gemini I can think of even down to his decision making processes. committed to the bit when he was ready to go all in, thought a lot about it before then, remains fluid in his decisions afterward although it comes from an altruistic and good place.
Cancer: Ichigo Kurosaki - Bleach
reason: truly every Cancer trait exists in this man in a way I've seen very seldom. he's loyal, emotional, compassionate, but he doesn't let it blind him and this is common for a lot of Cancer people once they can suss a situation out.
Leo: Bulma Briefs - DB/DBZ
reason: hot genius heiress and literally knows it. I feel like a simple look at her screams LEO so loudly I don't really need to explain.
Virgo: Kakashi Hatake - Naruto
reason: the first Virgo man to ever make me crazy gets to keep his title but mostly because of his internal thought processes. Kakashi's anxiety has been widely debated in fandom for many years but I've always firmly subscribed to the theory (and tbh fact if you read the manga but I digress) that is is wracked by it. he is loyal, he tends to be grounded but he questions himself. idk. just so Virgo it hurts down to this.
Libra: Joseph Joestar - JJBA
reason: please watch one episode of Battle Tendency to know more. I will not be defending this decision and you will come back to tell me I'm right.
Scorpio: L Lawliet - Death Note
reason: intelligent, intuitive, endearingly strange. he is the Scorpio pinkprint in the very best way.
Sagittarius: Asuka Langley-Soryu - NGE
reason: literally every Sagittarius stereotype exists in this lovely young woman and she does no wrong to me so it doesn't matter but she's brash, she's proud of herself, she gets done what she sets out to do.
Capricorn: Senku Ishigami - Dr. Stone
reason: work ethic alone. he is the most stereotypical Capricorn I can think of in any media depiction down to deep emotions and the way he views his comrades and the things he does for them to make a world they weren't meant to be in more comfortable for them. I LOVE U SENKU!!!
Aquarius: Suguru Geto - JJK
reason: even if he hadn't gone murderous over it, he is an Aquarius through and through, down to everything he does being for the whole rather than himself.
Pisces: Yuuta Okkotsu - JJK
reason: literally the Pisces stereotype. kind, compassionate, good to everyone, everyone eventually becomes family which is just sooooo deeply Piscean thanks to our ability to really tune in and be there for people. just so good. glad to be associated with him.
OMG, I KEEP THINKING ABOUT NICO AND EVERYONE'S TIKTOK ACCOUNTS AND I JUST REALIZED- There are probably so many edits of Nico floating around tiktok 😭😭
Like I just imagine that a popular genre of edit is like the sappy type with clips of Nico, Will, and Leo from like instagram livestreams and just general appearances with Ribs by Lorde playing in the back and AHHHHH
Ppl also totally do the same with Percy, Annabeth, Jason or Piper, Leo, and Jason 😭😭
Also, with the resurgence of Apollo and his music, people are probably making so many thirst trap edits of this man like it's ridiculous just how many edits ppl are willing to make of him and Apollo's kids hate it (especially with how FOUL tiktok comments are 😭😭) Apollo himself probably thinks it's hilarious
Austin is the only one who (thankfully) has never been scarred by such things (bro is so glad he never got tiktok)
There are probably similar edits of Nico floating around, but I can't imagine Nico being comfortable with that, so I'd like to think that his fans are nice enough not to post those kinds of edits 😭😭
Also with how famous Kayla and Will (Will doesn't know how but also he appears in like EVERYONE'S tiktoks) there are probably edits of them too, but Will's consist mostly of him and Nico while Kayla's are like badass edits of her archery competitions (and you best believe Apollo reposts them with sappy comments like "my daughter 🥹🥹")
THIS WAS WAY LONGER THAN I MEANT FOR IT TO BE OMG IM SO SORRY 😭😭 HAVE A GOOD DAY 🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶
HDKSHDJS NICO EDITORS GO HARD (i say as an editor)HDKSJF
dude the edits would be CRAZY partly bc it’s so hard to find good content of him so you KNOW itd be impossible to get scene packs. goodbye to the artists that you have interviews of and tour movies, it’s nearly impossible to get a good quality video for an edit of nico
which makes everyone use that one interview he did at 16 over and over and over and over againHDKDN
i DEFINITELY think the majority of edits are him with his friends or fan interactions bc those are like the only videos that are out there (but also the angels fandom treats leo and will as their own little niche celebs)
the part about the foul comments on thirst trap edits of apollo is SO SO SO REAL. you just KNOW that there are a thousand people calling him a dilf in the comments, and a blend of current clips of him with his older content in movies and shows… tiktok revives the apollo craze in a new generationJDKD
i just know that kayla would go through those comment sections, comment “i need to bleach my eyes” and then go through every single one and block everyone who says a remotely dirty thing abt her dad she is TRYING to live in peace (but there’s no escaping it)
there’d be people being like WHAT WHERE DID KAYLAS ACCOUNT GO??? and then be like oh shit… i commented on that one apollo edit…HDKDJ
i do think there are definitely some thirst trap edits of nico but the hard thing is that there’s like. zero clips that would be good for that. like they go off this 2 second video from a fan and a blurry vid of a concert from the nosebleeds and the editors do their VERY BEST to make it look hot
and yet the comments go insane anyway
will saves them but that’s not important
more people make thirst trap edits of leo just because it’s very common for him to interact with them and commentHEKFJS i just feel like he absolutely would
and also will just bc. i mean. it’s will.
also there’d be a lot of content of him from lou ellen’s vids… there’s be a random viral vid including him and he becomes white boy of the month bc of one incredibly viral velocity. but then he just. it’s like every year he’s white boy of the month for at least one month. and he’s like wtf how does this keep happening
nico saves all those edits as well but that’s not important
and kayla’s are def more of her in archery like there’s a very very niche section of tiktok that are such fans of her (also probably velocities of her dancing tiktoks) and since she has so much content online it’s much easier to edit her
anyway the variety between those fan bases i could go on for AGESDJDK i LOVE to imagine these types of things and your hc’s are spot on!!
It wasn’t long before the colorful November breezes slipped into an unforgiving winter, the icy bite of the cold dulled down only by the warm glow of lights hung on every tree and paper cups filled with hot chocolate. Arguably, it was the best time of the year. Arguably, it was also the worst.
“So why couldn’t you walk yourself to the cafe that’s two blocks from our house?” The annoyed voice who sat beside you asked. He leaned forward towards the wheel, trying his best to see through the foggy windshield.
You rolled your eyes at his question, gesturing to the frosty weather outside. “It’s literally freezing,” you retorted. “And you think I would willingly choose to brave the cold when I have you and you have a car and a heater?”
Bucky relented with a sigh. “I guess you have a point,” he glanced quickly at your bundled up figure in the passenger’s seat. “Speaking of, are you warm enough?”
“Yeah,” you confirmed, popping up the collar of your coat. “I put on nearly every sweater I have in my closet.”
He let out a laugh beside you as he turned into the parking lot of the cafe and pulled into a spot near the entrance. “Will you need a ride home?” he asked before unlocking the car doors.
You shook your head no. “I think me and Steve and Wanda have plans, so Steve said he’d come pick me up later. I’ll see you at home,” you replied before shutting the door, nearly missing the hint of disappointment on Bucky’s face as you did.
“Wait,” you heard him call behind you before you made it any farther. You walked back to the passenger’s side window which was now rolled down, Bucky’s cheeks turning pink as the cold entered the car. “Take this, I heard tonight’s going to be windy.” He pulled off his scarf and handed it to you before waving goodbye. You couldn’t help but smile at his gesture and pulled the scarf on a bit higher to hide the blush that crept onto your cheeks as you watched him drive away. You made sure to note the smell of his cologne that lingered on the soft fabric as you walked toward the entrance.
As you opened up the door into the cafe, you were immediately greeted by the warm and familiar smell of baked goods and coffee with the chime of the bell. Although it seemed a little more crowded than usual, with people ordering their hot drinks to take with them on their holiday shopping, a friendly wave caught your attention and you were relieved to see Wanda had found a table.
She immediately greeted you with a grin and stood up to welcome you with a hug before sitting down across from you. “I got you some tea,” she gestured to the steaming mug in front of you. “I wasn’t sure what kind, but when I told them your name they told me they knew your order.” She raised an eyebrow at you as she took a sip from her own mug.
You couldn’t help the warmth that crept up your cheeks. “Yeah,” you confirmed. “Me and Bucky are regulars here,” you explained.
“You and Bucky, huh?” Wanda teased. “How is that by the way? I feel like you haven’t talked about him as much lately.”
“It’s… good,” you replied, rubbing the back of your neck. “It’s just weird to talk about him around Steve. After that night my dad came to visit, he gets so visibly uncomfortable if I even mention Bucky. So I just don’t.”
Wanda hummed as she processed your thoughts. “I wish I could tell you more, but it’s not my place,” she apologized.
“Yeah,” you sighed. “I get it. I just wish he would talk to me. We used to never keep secrets from each other, but now it feels like that’s all there is between us.”
“Look,” Wanda began with a gentle voice. “I know I told you I was hanging out with you and Steve today… but I’m not.”
“What? Why not?” you asked in surprise. “We always go Christmas shopping together.”
Wanda looked down at her mug, feeling apologetic for not coming along. “I think it’s better if I sit this one out,” she answered. “We can go together some other time this week, but I think you and Steve should hang out today.”
Before you could protest against Wanda’s suggestion, a quiet series of pings on her phone drew both your attention to new messages from Steve.
“Well?” you pushed Wanda who kept looking back and forth between you and the phone, unsure of whether or not she should check it. “What did he say?”
She grabbed the phone and read the messages before looking back up at you with a rueful smile and standing up to grab her coat that was hung on the back of her chair. “I guess that’s my cue to leave,” she gave you a tight hug before pulling away to hold both your shoulders. “Remember, I said nothing, and uh… you two have fun. Tell Steve I said he’s a dumbass.” And with that last sentiment, she headed for the door, her mug of coffee still full and pastry uneaten. However, it wasn’t long before the door chimed once again, and a bundled up Steve walked in with a scarf pulled up in an attempt to shield his now rosy cheeks from the brisk wind outside.
Steve scanned around the coffee shop until he saw your figure at the table and a warm smile of relief found its way onto his face. In less than five minutes, your previous coffee date was replaced by Steve, who sat down in Wanda’s place and immediately took a sip out of the mug she had left behind. He let out a scowl of disgust as the taste hit him and you couldn’t help but let out a laugh.
“What’s wrong?” you asked playfully.
“Wanda ordered me a black coffee,” he explained. As if on cue, his phone chimed with a message from Wanda. “She said I didn’t deserve any sugar in my coffee because I’m a dumbass.” Steve rolled his eyes at the message before setting down his phone.
“Right,” you mused. “She did ask me to let you know that you are indeed a dumbass. But why specifically is she calling you one today?”
Steve looked away and you swear you could see his ever-present smile falter just a little bit before he answered. “Oh, you know… just Wanda being Wanda.” Although the answer wasn’t enough to pacify you, you figured Steve would tell you when he was ready so instead you changed the subject, curious about his life in the last few weeks since you’ve seen him.
“I feel like we haven’t hung out in ages,” you complained, taking a sip from your own mug.
“We really haven’t,” Steve agreed. “That’s why I planned today.” The giddy smile on his face piqued your curiosity and had you wondering what he was up to.
“Oh?” you mused. “Planned, you say?”
Steve reached into his pocket and pulled out a piece of notebook paper, which looked like it had been crumpled and folded many times in his front pocket, and laid it out in between both of you on the table. On the paper was a numbered list of various activities, most of which you recognized as things you and Steve had always wanted to do during the holidays. The last item on the list caught your eye.
“Letters to Santa?” you questioned with a smile. Steve nodded as he pulled the list back from you, folding it along the well marked creases and returning it to his pocket.
“Duh,” he smiled. “What kind of holiday outing would it be without letters to Santa? So should we get started?”
Usually, most people hate being in the mall around this time of year. The oversaturation of advertisements in every shop window, the mass of terrible drivers trying to weave through overfilled parking lots, and the hoards of people that filled the halls were enough to ruin the holiday spirit. But today, the mid-morning was filled with the smell of pine and gingerbread and the sound of popular holiday music over the speakers and you were glad to be here with Steve.
“Who’s the first person on the list?” Steve asked, looking over as you began to list down names of people to buy gifts for on your phone.
“Wanda,” you replied. “She told me she didn’t want anything, but I wanted to get her something funny.”
Steve hummed thoughtfully as he paused in front of an eclectic looking gift shop. “What about one of those?” He pointed eagerly at a pair of slippers shaped like rubber fish and you swatted at him, trying to hold back your own laughter. “Come on, it’s good right?”
You rolled your eyes before walking into the store to make your purchase. Wanda would hate it, but she would also love it. Gifts to Wanda were always easy, as your goal in mind was always to get a laugh out of her. The other people on your list however, your newfound friends through Bucky, were much more difficult to pick for, until Steve assured you that similar to Wanda, laughter was the way to go.
At the mall food court with full shopping bags filling the empty seats beside you, you and Steve found yourselves taking a well-deserved lunch break after all your shopping. As you sat together eating your food, you began to check your list, noting that there were only two names left: Steve and Bucky.
“What do you want for Christmas, Steve?” you asked. Unlike Wanda, Steve was a little bit more difficult to buy gifts for. He was one of those people who were happy with anything, so you felt an even bigger need to constantly surprise him. However, after the last few months, you found it even more difficult to decide what to get him.
Expecting him to reply with his typical answer, “I’ll be happy with anything you give me,” you were surprised when he answered you directly. “A picture frame,” he answered decisively.
“A picture frame?” You echoed in surprise. “That’s it? Why?” Steve let out a chuckle at the confused look on your face.
“Why not?” He shrugged. “I’m feeling sentimental, I suppose.”
You nodded in acknowledgement as you thought about what to do next. “Let’s go to an antique store,” you suggested.
“An antique store?” Steve questioned. “For a picture frame?”
You nodded in reply as you explained to him. “I feel like getting a used picture frame is a lot more sentimental than just grabbing one from a random store, don’t you think?” You looked at the thoughtful look on his face as you continued. “It’s used, but in the best way. Someone else’s memories were in there before. It’s like you’re adding to the history.”
“Hmm,” he mused. “Antique store it is.”
You don’t know how long you spent in the nearby antique store looking at knick-knacks and the like before you finally found the perfect frame for Steve – a beautifully ornate and embellished gold picture frame. “I feel bad that you know your gift from me,” you said as you put the frame into the basket you were holding. “It’s not a surprise anymore.”
“That’s not completely true,” Steve disagreed. “You don’t know what I’m gonna put inside it.” You nodded with a pout, relenting to his logic. “It’ll be a surprise… for you mostly. The frame is for me, but the real gift is your reaction to what I’ll frame.” He gave you a playful nudge as the two of you lazily wandered through the aisles towards the cash register.
As you walked through the shelves of mismatched knick-knacks and books, the glint of gold embellishment hidden behind a collection of postcards caught your eye, making you come to a pause to check it out. You reached out to feel that the glimmering gold was embedded on a book and as you pulled it out, a small gasp escaped your lips. You had found the perfect gift for Bucky.
Happy with your purchases, you and Steve happily made your way to the next stop on your bucket list – ice skating. It was one of the things you had always wanted to do with Steve and Wanda, but Steve always argued against it, believing that he was too clumsy to learn how to ice skate. Honestly, you were surprised that he agreed to it even now.
“I thought you were deathly afraid of ice skating?” You questioned as the two of you sat down on the bench to put your ice skates on. You looked over at him expecting to see him with fear in his eyes but you were surprised to see nothing but a smug smirk on his eyes as he finished tying up his laces.
“I am,” he confessed. “But what’s the point of life if you don’t do something terrifying every once in a while?” Honestly, it sounded as though he was trying to convince himself more than you.
“Huh,” you mused as you nodded at his response. “That’s a fresh take coming from someone who refuses to go to a haunted house with me.”
“I can’t be completely predictable all the time,” he laughed as he grabbed onto the bar on the wall to help himself up. “Let’s go?” He reached out his hand and helped you up, not letting go as the two of you made it onto the slick ice.
Ice skating was all the fun you imagined it would be, even with all the laughs, falls, and bruises. Once the two of you managed to get the hang of it, you found yourself gliding slowly across the ice with Steve still holding onto you for dear life. The sun was beginning to set, and the sky was painted with pinks and oranges, a glimpse of warmth before the day slipped into a frosty indigo. This is… nice, you found yourself thinking. Bucky would enjoy this. Before you realized it, a sigh escaped your lips.
You looked up at Steve who had his eyes trained on the falling sun and seemed preoccupied with his own thoughts. For the first time in the many years you’ve been friends, you couldn’t help but feel how far away he felt, even though he was right next to you.
“Steve?” you asked quietly, unsure of what you were even about to ask.
“Hmm?” he responded with a hum, his blue eyes still trained on the horizon. When you didn’t respond immediately, he looked down at you in concern. “You okay?”
You smiled and nodded before looking away from him. There are some walls that don’t need to be torn down with force, you decided. No matter how tall, all walls will eventually crumble and fall on their own, but until that happens, you would be sitting on that wall with a bird’s eye view of the sunset. The wall will fall, but in its own time.
So instead, you pulled Steve for one last lap, egging him on for a race.
Once the sun had set and after a much needed hot chocolate break, Steve led you to a nearby village made of small houses made of plastic and warm Christmas lights, with very tall elves offering cookies every few feet.
“Welcome to the North Pole,” a cheerful elf greeted the two of you as you walked under the canopy of red and green lights. “Santa’s workshop is just straight ahead, the North Pole office to your left on Gum Drop Lane and the Sugar Plum Cafe on your right. Happy holiday!”
The two of you thanked the elf and walked down the streets, covered in fake snow and giant pieces of plastic candy. “Wow I can’t believe this has been in our city this whole time and we’ve never been here.”
Steve shrugged as he waved back at an elf. “Well I mean to be fair, this place is literally designed for small children.”
“We can be small children for a day,” you suggested as you looked up at the tall boy who raised an eyebrow at you. “Or relatively large children I suppose.” Steve chuckled as he playfully shoved you before pointing at a nearby building.
“Well, I did promise that we would write letters to Santa,” he said as he extended his arm to usher you towards the building.
Inside, the building, which was more of a small room, was designed to look like a cozy log cabin with decorations and giant stamps and ribbons lining the walls. Throughout the room, many tables were set up with various types of stationery paper, pens, markers, crayons, stamps, and envelopes and kids could be seen at each table excited to write out their lists for Santa. An elf walked up to you and Steve to explain how everything works.
“So you write your letter here, and usually we deliver them to Santa for you, but on this special occasion, you’ll be allowed to deliver them to Santa yourself,” you didn’t miss the wink the elf sent to Steve or the way he sheepishly rubbed at the back of his neck.
“Oh?” you asked in amusement. “Special occasion, huh?” You nudged at Steve who coughed in reply. The elf took her leave after escorting the two of you to an empty table. Once out of earshot, you immediately let out your laughter. “What did you tell the elves?”
“I told them I was going to propose tonight,” he looked down with a chuckle. “I thought it would be more special if we could give them to Santa ourselves, but they said that was only part of the proposal package.”
You laughed at his confession. “Proposal package? Who knew the North Pole was so commercialized?” Steve rolled his eyes as he slid a piece of paper in front of you to change the subject.
“Write your letter or whatever,” he nagged. You grabbed a bright marker and turned slightly away from Steve, feigning an excessive need for privacy as you wrote down your list of Christmas wishes.
Dear Santa,
I feel like I’m too old to be writing this letter, but why not? It’s been a while since I’ve done this, so pardon me if I’m a bit rusty but here goes…
For Christmas, what I want more than anything else this year is… is… This is a lot harder than it was when I was 5 years old. I guess that’s why grown-ups don’t write to you as much huh? What else is there to wish for? I wish for my friends to have a good year, mostly. I think that’s really it. I wish for Bucky to like the gift I got him. (Sorry I know that’s your job)
Also I wish for a new journal and new books. Thanks Santa!
By the time you had finished writing your letter, you were surprised to see Steve still writing furiously on his piece of paper. You had to admit you were curious about how he could possibly be writing so much, but you didn’t want to disrupt his flow. It wasn’t until you heard the sound of someone obnoxiously clearing their throat that both you and Steve turned around to see a precocious 5 year old looking at him with disappointment.
“Are you done?” He asked with an unimpressed look. “At this rate, Santa will be on his way to Brazil before I get my letter done, old man.” Steve rolled his eyes at the kid as he knelt down with a wry smile.
“I have one more sentence, kiddo,” he said with the fakest smile he could muster. “And you better watch how you talk to adults before you end up on the naughty list next year.” You watched the child scoff and roll his eyes and you couldn’t help but laugh as Steve exaggeratedly finished up his letter before putting it in an envelope. You grabbed his arm and pulled him away before he could cause a scene.
“Come on old man,” you teased Steve. “Let’s go see Santa.”
Upon entering Santa’s workshop, you were happy to see that the line wasn’t very long and it was only a short amount of time before you found yourselves being escorted up to Santa by an elf. “Santa, these two have chosen to deliver their letters to you personally.”
“Oh?” Santa replied before taking your letters from the two of you. “Let’s see what we have then.” He opened Steve’s first as the elf pulled the two of you off to the side.
“While Santa’s reading your letters, you can go ahead and take pictures with the Nutcrackers and Gingerbread men.” You looked over to Steve who nodded in response as the two of you got settled in the photo area to pose with people dressed in elaborate costumes. The elf taking the pictures offered each of you a copy.
“These are so cute,” you mused aloud. As you looked up, you realized Steve had left you and was back with Santa. It wasn’t long before he returned to you with a smile.
“Santa says it’s your turn,” he called to you.
The jolly old man greeted you with a smile as he handed you an envelope. “Oh, I thought you keep the letters,” you questioned.
“I do,” Santa nodded. “But this letter is for you.” You looked at him quizzingly before taking the envelope from him. It was, indeed, addressed to you. Before you could open it however, Santa put his hand over yours on the envelope, stopping you in your tracks. “It was requested that you don’t open this until you get home.”
Before you could question the request, Steve’s voice came from behind you. “You ready to go?”
Not long after that, you found yourself unlocking the front door to the Jeon home, the whole car ride passing in a blur as you pondered the contents of the letter the entire time.
"Welcome home," you heard Bucky call from the kitchen. "How was your date?" He asked quietly.
"Hmm?" You replied, not fully processing his question, still lost in thought. "It was fine." Unable to think about anything else, you rushed up to your bedroom. In the privacy of your comforter, you pulled the letter back out and took a deep breath before opening up the envelope.
To the girl who makes the sun feel like the moon,
I know what you’re thinking.
“This is supposed to be a letter to Santa,” and you’re right. Sort of. I wrote Santa a letter asking him to give this to you, and if you’re reading this right now, it means I was definitely on Santa’s nice list. (Which obviously, how could I not be, I’m kind of amazing. That made you laugh didn’t it?)
Anyway, I wrote this letter to say thank you. Not just for spending today with me, but for spending nearly every today with me since that day on the playground. You’ve spent every today with me and I’ve spent every today hoping to see you tomorrow. Is that too cliche? I’ve honestly been thinking for a few weeks how to say what I want to say… words are really hard to put together you know? I know I’m usually the one who talks too much too fast, but for once… I’m blanking. You know what? There’s no better way to say it than to say it.
I love you. I always have, I think.
If you paused after reading that, it’s okay. I had to pause after writing it. You might be wondering, “Why are you saying this to me now?” And that’s a good question. Why now? I guess it’s easier to say something to someone when they can’t say anything back. I understand now why you picked a letter to tell Bucky your feelings… this is so much less scary than saying it in person. I’m sorry. I just don’t think I could stand to see the look on your face when I tell you I’m leaving.
Yeah… I’m moving to France next month. Early admission to a fancy art school. Crazy right? I’m sorry for not telling you sooner. But this was something I needed to figure out on my own. Looking back on our whole friendship, I’ve been depending on you to save me from everything I couldn’t face myself. I’ve been holding onto your hand, clinging to it, afraid that if I let go… that I would fall without you or that you would walk away. But now… I think it’s time for me to let go and trust that you’ll still stand by me even if I fall.
You can thank Wanda for that one. She’s wise beyond her years, you know? We should have been asking her for advice years ago. But back to what I said… I do love you. But I think that love still has some growing to do before I can say it to you in more than just ink on paper. But don’t worry… this isn’t some dramatic confession where now I tell you that I love you and that I’m waiting for you at the airport to fly away to France with me, or to choose me over Bucky.
I’ve said all I want to say and I need to wrap it up because there’s a 5 year old behind me shooting me a death glare. But finally… I believe no matter where life takes us nothing can break us apart (Sorry… If I didn’t include a High School Musical reference, I wouldn’t be me. But the sentiment holds true.). So choose love, choose writing, and choose your happiness, like I know you want me and Wanda to do. You are brighter than sunlight, and everyone around you knows that. Like the kind of sunlight you can see even when you close your eyes.
Love you always,
Steve
PLEASE speak abt the parents Beryl Tristan and Esperanza 🙏 🙏 🙏
Ok outside of firmly believing that those parents HAVE to be legacies (esperanza ESPECIALLY or at least she saw thru the mist) I'm just gonna blab about an AU that makes me laugh. The way I spent 30 mins writing this instead of my finals...
Quick run down: the three of them were friends, tristan and beryl as childhood friends actually, and then they accidentally kill a man (monster)
Beryl:
Grew up poor in a small town, "trailer trash", extremely critical alcoholic mother. Dad left when she was a kid. Had an older brother who left as soon as he could and never calls
Enjoyed watching movies and tv to imagine a better life she can live in
Nerdy as hell in school, wore the biggest glasses in the world. Had a huge crush on tristan for YEARS, especially when he got hot in high school, but liked him before too
Esperanza
Has the sight, can see thru the mist and it scares the shit out of her. Part of why Rosa thinks Leo is fucking devilspawn cuz Esperanza thought she was seeing demons. She moved around a lot growing up because of that fear, but also Hazel's curse
Kinda a rebellious punk, wildchild younger sibling. Her and Rosa are CONSTANTLY fighting
She moves into Tristan and Beryl's town in high school, after her mom died.
There's a satyr and demigod in her class. She doesnt think too much of it. Her teacher is weird....
Tristan
Kinda geeky, has 5 siblings but never talks about them too much. Was always a very sweet and quiet kid. Childhood friends with beryl, also poor too
Super into Ezperanza because she's different. Even when she's weird and mumbling about being chased she's still sooo cool compared to the town they're in.
Okay so now that they're in high school... I think this would be the early 80s 🙂 they essentially are together in a rag tag group, lost trio style, until they see a demigod getting attacked. Tristan hits the monster with his car. The 3 of them are HORRIFIED because they killed a man, but Esperanza keeps talking about monsters and explains it. The demigod's satyr is fucking young Hedge 💀 he's shit at his job so he just tells them about demigods and stuff.
Beryl is slowly ENAMORED by this. Starts drinking from this event but she is DELIGHTED by the idea of a new better world out there. Ezperanza feels like SHIT! She thinks this is all her fault and she's cursed. Tristan is going CRAZY, racked with grief. He is not doing well at ALL!!!!
Anyway they go to college with this in California together, mostly out of being closer but also fear of this secret (dead body) weighing on them. A few more monster and minor god encounters. Eventually, Hedge has to mist-wipe Tristan's memories because hes going crazy, which causes Hedge's issue with the Council of satyr elders or whatever. Idk its in the books lol. But this causes them all to separate and go their separate ways when Tristan can't remember the other two.
Beryl drops out of college, and gets scouted as she is waitressing. Has her big break, goes onto TV and gets famous. She begins to forget some of the little things about how much the demigod world is HORRIBLE. Once, she meets up with Esperanza and they stumble into a minor god, which makes her remember how much she wants to be in that world. She meets Zeus at a party :) and thinks he's charming and powerful, just different. It reminds her of the monster experience. She fucks that man obviously. Desire for something different to her shit life. She is CRAZY!!! 🩷
Esperanza goes to New Rome Uni because i luv that place idk if they allow mortals but she will!!!!! Because she goes to that fake school, no mortals really take her degree seriously which is why it was harder for her to get a job. Never taken seriously. She heads back to Texas eventually. She know he's Hepaestus when he approaches her at a library, doesn't like the idea of getting involved with that god stuff. Still falls in love. When her great grandfather falls ill (Sammy) she demands hepaestus to stay with her. He doesn't obviously, but he promises to come back, if not for her than for Leo. He has to. He doesn't.
Tristan doesn't go to college, he just works at like, fucking Hollister or Abercrombie because he's hot now. He meets Aphrodite a few times but she's busy and he doesnt give in. Eventually they meet at the beach surfing and she's like "I've been trying to get your attention for a while now"... She doesn't tell him she's a goddess but Tristan kinda has a familiar feeling. He's forgotten what it was but she just feels different. When piper grows up, aphrodite sends little gifts to "her favorite heartthrob" and he just gives it to Piper.
......
Anyway it was just putting little seeds together + being crazy. Beryl and Esperanza sometimes still talked. They met once when they were pregnant and talked about their kids playing together. Esperanza, seeing theu the mist, had an idea that Beryl was fucking a god, but its not like she has high standing either. Beryl and Tristan bumped into each other with their acting careers, but Tristan doesnt really remember Beryl the way he should. Esperanza and Tristan have some kind of twisted relationship I fear of will they, wont they with Beryls jealousy 🙄 such it is. Naturally the same with Beryl and Esperanza 🙏
@exquisitexagony | for arthur. feat. eric barlow.
“Are you crazy? The red ones are clearly superior.” Leo’s elbows are propped on the counter as she sorts a bag of skittles into groups. Red with red, green with green, etc. “That’s why there’s less of them in a bag. Too much of a good thing spoils it.” They’d had this debate going for a while; which candy was the best. She had her opinions and it was difficult to sway her from them. If you asked her, she would tell you the blue m&ms tasted the best. And that somehow Twizzlers were better when you snapped them in half. It didn’t make sense – there was no science behind it. But God help anyone that tried to tell her otherwise. Of course, Arthur let her have her opinions, as strange as they were.
“When I was little, my dad wo-“ The rumbling engine of a car outside makes her stop her train of thought entirely. She bristles, pushing herself up to stand and listen. She knew that sound; it haunted her. Tormented her for years and-
The world spins to a halt on its axis. Suddenly, it feels as if the air has gone stale; like the joy has been sucked from the world. A muted-green BMW m3 pulls into the parking lot outside. Her hearing suddenly becomes attuned to every sound – the leaking faucet behind them, the squeaking turn of the hot dog warmer beside them.
Tumblr media
A moment comes and goes where the store turns into a blinding blur. She bolts for the back of it, hands scratching and yanking on the bathroom handle as she throws herself inside and slams the door shut. The lights flicker on and she half punches the lock and wobbles backwards.
When he exits the car he stretches, eyes squinting against the harsh sun. This place was a shithole town with ugly ass rednecks. He couldn’t imagine her hiding here of all places. Not when she worshipped the idea of community and belonging.
A tip-off from her mother had led him here. At least Diane didn’t know the truth – that was a start. And even if Leo had opened her mouth it was easy enough for him to explain away. She was an anxiety ridden nuisance. Who could blame him?
The door to the gas station dings open and he doesn’t so much as look at the clerk. He stalks the inside as if he’s looking for something. In the back he helps himself to a six pack, popping the tab on one of the cans before he even gets to the register. His eyes flicker back to the closed bathroom door with the lights on, noting the shadow of feet in the cracks.
Leo’s eyes are closed and she tries her best not to breathe with her hand glued over her mouth. This was impossible; how did he find her? She had been so careful, so cunning. Everything was paid for in cash – everything was handled under the table. There was no official contract with her landlord. Nothing. He shouldn’t have been able to trace her.
At the counter, Eric slams the case of beer down and leans. His tongue passes along his upper teeth as he stares at the curly-haired kid in front of him. Briefly, his eyes flicker to the painting on the wall. Bingo.
Tumblr media
“You know a girl named Leonora?” His eyes are dark – threatening. “Short, brunette. Likes to talk.” He’s gauging the situation to see just how much she talked. Eric takes a long gulp of his beer until the contents are empty. “You Arthur?” He motions with one finger to the drawing on the wall as the can crushes in his grasp.
